Cyrillic Character Search w/ Zebra
by justinhiggins 22 Jul '10

22 Jul '10

It seems that if I enable Zebra, I cannot get titles in Cyrillic characters to be found via search. I am just presented with a list of titles that are all in cyrillic. However if I disable Zebra and use NoZebra instead, the titles are found just fine. Anyone have any ideas? I am using Koha 3.00.04 and Zebra 2.0.43 Thanks in advance, Justin -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Cyrillic-Character-Search-w--Zebra-tp28730621p2873062… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha Upgrades
by deavorj＠comcast.net 22 Jul '10

22 Jul '10

Dear Koha community, We currently have the 3.0 version of Koha. It's new to us , and we are just learning the program. We are about to start lots of data entry next week. What are the advantages of the 3.1 upgraded version? Should we upgrade before we start lots of data entry? I know some of you mentioned re indexing once you have upgraded. What does this involve? Thanks for your input. Janet Deavor St. John Catholic School North Charleston, SC 29405

Deleting Serial Subscriptions
by Becki Whitaker 21 Jul '10

21 Jul '10

Hi, We have some old, test serial control subscriptions that we would like to clean up and delete. Does anyone know how this can be done? Can you delete a subscription by subscription ID? [Using version 3.01.00.032] BTW, in the process of looking at the 3.0 documentation for an answer, it looks as if the previous documentation version has been replaced by a manual that only describes and discusses the administration system preferences. This is great and something that we've needed but the old how-to, step-by-step approach is needed also. We especially made use of the info about mapping item record subfields in the 952. We need both types of documentation. Can we bring back the "old" one as well as the new? Thanks. Content Cafe use in Koha?
by Russell, Katherine 21 Jul '10

21 Jul '10

Hello Everyone, We currently have a subscription to Content Café through Innovative Interfaces with the product integrated into Millennium. Is anyone using Content Café with Koha? If so, do you subscribe directly through Baker & Taylor or a third party? So far I have been unable to find a vendor other than Innovative offering the product. Thanks, Kate Kate Russell Electronic Information Librarian Regina Library Rivier College 420 South Main St. Nashua, NH 03060 603.897.8683

Millennium to Koha
by Ian Walls 21 Jul '10

Pranav, You may find some of my presentation from Code4Lib 2010 to be useful. I did the first Millennium to Koha migration (or at least I was the first to claim credit for it!) when I was at New York University Health Sciences Libraries. Video: http://www.archive.org/details/BecomingTrulyInnovativeMigratingFromMillenni… Slides: http://code4lib.org/files/BecomingTrulyInnovative.ppt Generally speaking, you'll want your bibliographic and authority data out in MARC, and your patron and circulation information in CSV (exported from Create Lists in Millennium). The methods outlined in the presentation are a bit roundabout, as we were in a particularly difficult situation at the time and could not use more standard export methods (like Data Exchange), but they work, and serve to outline the process. Hope this helps! -Ian 2010/7/13 pranav garg <pranav.garg007(a)gmail.com> > Hi, > > I am a part of the group who are currently evaluating migration from > Millennium to Koha and was wondering if there is a case study which has been > done which outlines how has the experience been, common pitfalls or some > other useful information which can help us in getting to speed in doing a > test evaluation? > > If there are any useful links or information you can point out from > migrating from Millennium to Koha that would be helpful too with respect to > in which format the data should be exported from Millennium, what format is > accepted by Koha, how the transformation mapping done. > > Thanks and Looking forward to hear from you all. > > Regards, > Pranav > > > -- Ian Walls Lead Development Specialist ByWater Solutions Phone # (888) 900-8944 http://bywatersolutions.com ian.walls(a)bywatersolutions.com Twitter: @sekjal

Documentation Help
by Nicole Engard 21 Jul '10

21 Jul '10

Hello all, There are two areas of the manual that I have left blank due to lack of knowledge and I'm hoping someone out there can help me out. They are: Classification Sources: http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/?ch=x3729#AEN4003 Record Matching Rules: http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/?ch=x3729#AEN4006 With the exception of those two areas I think everything else is covered in some way in the manual. Thanks Nicole PS. As always, I'm up for comments/suggestions/collaborators/etc when it comes to the manual as it stands now.
