Deleting patrons
by Cab Vinton 31 Mar '11

31 Mar '11

Are there any issues related to deleting patrons that one should be aware of? I'm thinking particular of the "usual" circulation and & statistical reports that libraries run for annual reports, etc. Thank you, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH

Does anyone know of a way to retain the bulk import order / SQL indexing? (e.g most common to least common.) c) If these are made "Mandatory" in a specific framework mapping from now on, I assume that previous non-compliant entries will not be wiped out. Am I correct? d) Staff (who, with some of our volunteers, gave the system a test-drive yesterday) really want to use this as a "drop down choice" menu, and have come up with a lengthy list that will cover most cases. The manual says that if it's "Mandatory" you cannot leave a blank line to type in the occasional exception. Is there a way around this? Can it even be edited "outside" auth values after data entry. Assuming I'm correct in b) above, can they even be edited manually - say in a different framework that does not define them as "Mandatory"? For background, this is for book condition, as in "vg/vg", "fair/none" or "fine half calf". But there will be the occasional "vellum" or "slipcased" - and the list of common combinations is already approaching the hundred mark. Thanks, Paul Tired old sys-admin

Text on issue reciepts

Good morning, STDC libraries print receipts for items issued. The font size is very small and we would like to change to larger print. I can't see in the admin where to change it so am thinking it is a style sheet somewhere on the server. Can anyone point me in the right direction? 'Translating' images
by Stefano Bargioni 30 Mar '11

30 Mar '11

In some cases, images need to be changed depending on the language. An example: the cart has a cart icon, of course, but the Italian translation uses 'scaffale', and the Spanish translation uses 'bolsa', that are not carts. So the icon needs to be 'translated' accordingly. Here is a proposal to do this (case it-IT). Add an icon named scaffale.png into the opac-tmpl/prog/images directory and the following code to the opacuserjs syspref: $(document).ready(function() { var lang = readCookie('KohaOpacLanguage'); if (lang=='it-IT') { $('#cartmenulink img').attr('src','/opac-tmpl/prog/images/scaffale.png'); $('a.addtocart').css('background-image','url(/opac-tmpl/prog/images/scaffale.png)'); } }); Cart icons will be changed on page load. Bye. Stefano

new versions
by Shelley & Kurt Kemperman 30 Mar '11

30 Mar '11

Trying these questions again... We currently have version 3.0.0 and want to update to 3.2.6 this week. We are having the IT consultant that originally installed Koha this winter do this. Any potential glitches or problems that I should be aware of? Will I have to reset anything in the new version? Hoping the transition goes smoothly. Also, would it be better to wait for version 3.4 in April? How different will this one be? We don't have full-time or even regular IT help - have to hire/pay for each service, so we want to use our money wisely. Thanks, Shelley

build_browser_and_cloud cronjob
by Abdulsalam Yousef 30 Mar '11

30 Mar '11

Hi all, i was trying to import authority records from marc records that already loaded in my database which will make a catalog for example of my authors when browsing by subject in opac then selecting the type as person_name by this command ./bin/cronjobs/build_browser_and_cloud.pl -f -b 100a -t 100 -c i'm sure that i used this before and it gets the desired results but now it doesn't get when using this command only it fills the tags table not the auth_header one. we are using koha 3.2.4 and another updated one to 3.2.5 thanks alot
