All, Sorry, everyone, I spoke too soon. The combination with the barcode did not work. Still working on it and would appreciate hearing from anyone working on a similar problem. Thanks. Koha linking to individual items in Koha

All, Is there a way in Koha to get a link to a specific item or holding either by barcode or itemnumber or some combination of fields? For example, in our current system we can use either items.barcode or the equivalent combination of items.biblionumber & items.enumchron fields. by uknet80 16 May '11

Dear experts, after installing KOHA, I added several records, but when i try searching for record I get no results (book not found). Do I have to have zebra search engine to search for item under KOHA, or zebra's job is just to speed search query? I have sent several question on this site, no one ready to give an answer, can anyone help please. thanks -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/DO-i-have-to-have-zebra-to-search-for-Ite… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha advanced search 1 result brings up MARC view
by Linda Culberson 16 May '11

16 May '11

All, On our Koha version 3.02.02.003, when we do an advanced "phrase" search - such as title phrase - which has one result, instead of going to the normal view it is going to the MARC view. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Thanks. -- Linda Culberson lculber(a)mdah.state.ms.us Archives and Records Services Division Ms. Dept. of Archives & History P. O. Re: [Koha] vanishing contents in lists and Error message Can't "next" outside a loop block at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/XSLT.pm line 67.

Owen, thanks for the pointer. That might explain the empty lists. But the problem seems much bigger than that. I accessed the lists first. But something is scrambled. It's possible to search for things, but clicking on an item in the search results brings up an error message: Can't "next" outside a loop block at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/XSLT.pm line 67. Here's what my IT person did to clone the site. I wonder if he's missed a step? Snapshot the production database mysqldump --add-drop-table koha | gzip > /home/koha/koha.20110213-1750.sql.gz Stop Koha Test zebra processes /etc/init.d/koha-test-zebra-daemon stop /etc/init.d/koha-test-zebraque-daemon stop Update the Test mysql instance (koha_test) zcat /home/koha/koha.20110213-1750.sql.gz | mysql -u root koha_test Access the test admin and fix several preferences: OPACBaseURL StaffClientBaseURL intranetcolorstylesheet: intranet-test-color.css IntranetNav HTML needs to be updated. Rebuild the Zebra indexes chdir /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools su koha export KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/test-conf.xml ./rebuild_zebra.pl -r -a ./rebuild_zebra.pl -r -b Restart Zebra daemons (you’ll need to be root) /etc/init.d/koha-test-zebra-daemon start /etc/init.d/koha-test-zebraque-daemon start

Koha hardware interface
by ajesh＠maxenna.com 16 May '11

Hi, I have recently installed Koha3.4 on Ubuntu. I would like to interface an RFID reader with Koha. More specifically when the user goes to Circulation -> check out -> and enter the patron details, there will be a place to "Enter item barcode". The usual procedure is that the barcode scanner will fill in this value. But what we want to implement is an RFID reader instead of the barcode scanner. Each book will have a RFID tag. The patron will pick the books from the shelf and bring it and place some books on top of RFID reader which will read all the books at once, say for example 4-5 books at once. My doubt is how can I read this information into koha. Any suggestion please. On further thought, I was thinking on developing an application which would read the data from the RFID reader and update the MySQL database in the same way/format Koha would do. Would someone recommend doing it this way. If so how do I develop this application. Because I know C#.net and VB.net. But these can be used only for developing application on windows. How do I develop an application that will run on Ubuntu and suffice as an interface for Koha. Regards Ajesh

All, Yes, ByWater has received some funding to make Hourly Loans happen, and we're working with Catalyst to get it done. The goal is to get it working as soon as possible, but as stated, it's a big development, and will require lots of testing and integration. All the work will be made available to the entire community, and every effort shall be made to make sure it's of high enough quality and completeness to be integrated back into Koha (I cannot promise it's integration by any specific date as I'm not the Release Manager and the current release is time-based not feature based; I can only promise my efforts towards quality assurance). vanishing contents in lists
by Elaine Bradtke 16 May '11

Currently running Koha 3.2 We have a test site and a production site. The Test site is a clone of the production site. Periodically we replace the test site with a complete copy of the production site. lock stock and barrel. But after the last cloning, the contents of my lists vanished. The lists are there, but they all have 0 entries. I then tried to create a new list by selecting items from search results. . . and nothing was copied over into the list. Lists work fine in the production site, and the contents are all there. . . . Where should we look for the gremlins? I have no idea how the lists work, or where the data is stored. It's possible we missed something and didn't copy it over. . . but even so, shouldn't a newly created list work as it should? -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 ext 36 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Registered Company No. 297142 Charity Registered in England and Wales No. 305999 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Writing about music is like dancing about architecture" --Elvis Costello (Musician magazine No. 60 (October 1983), p. 52)
