Koha to MARC mapping
by Zachary Spalding 18 May '11

18 May '11

I just updated my Koha to MARC mapping, is there a way to update my old records with the mapping change? I am looking at pulling the field information from the MARCXML field in this case 780#t to the new mapping I have setup. Calculating Fines by the hour
by sheldon_tappin 18 May '11

18 May '11

Hi All, I have noticed that koha calculate fines per day (issuing and fine rules). Is there an option to calculate the fines by the hour. At our library we need that functionality. If its not currently possible, can you tell me which table(s) are affected for fines, so that I can write a script to calculate them by the hour. Trapped Holds = No Holds Allowed
by Lesley Kimball 18 May '11

18 May '11

Hi everyone, We've only been using production mode since late April and today we "discovered" a strange phenomenon. Titles that we only have 1 copy/item of that have the status of being a trapped hold (waiting), show as "no holds allowed" when you search for them in a general way that produces a list of records (as opposed to searching for it by barcode). So, if the item "Uncoupling" by Meg Wolitzer (which we only own one copy of) is trapped & waiting to be picked up, if we do a search in either the staff client or the OPAC for "Wolitzer" -- a list of her books comes up and each one has the link below it to place a hold except for the one that is trapped (Uncoupling) and that one says "no holds allowed". You can place a hold on it in other ways (through checking the box and then clicking place hold, or in staff client by bringing up the item and placing a hold directly). So, we can get around it, but it is unlikely that most of our patrons using the OPAC will go any farther than seeing "no holds allowed." Has anyone else dealt with this? Lesley Kimball ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You see, I don't believe that libraries should be drab places where people sit in silence, and that's been the main reason for our policy of employing wild animals as librarians. -- Monty Python, "Gorilla Librarian" sketch ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lesley Kimball Director Wiggin Memorial Library Stratham, NH <mailto:Director@WigginML.org> Director(a)WigginML.org

multilingual interface question
by "Γιάννης Κουρμούλη ς (Giannis Kourmoulis)" 18 May '11

18 May '11

Dear all We are testing koha for our library and we have a second language installed (Greek) for the interface. There seems to be an inconsistency though and i would like to ask: Is there a way (and if not, are there any plans to implement this feature) to set two different names for a branch, item type, borrower type etc? For our current installation (3.4) we use this branch name: Physics Department Library - Βιβλιοθήκη Τμήματος Φυσικής but we would like to use this branch name en: Physics Department Library branch name el: Βιβλιοθήκη Τμήματος Φυσικής and the correct name to be displayed when the user changes the language setting. thank you -- ------------------------------------------------------- Γιάννης Κουρμούλης |Giannis Kourmoulis Σύστημα Βιβλιοθηκών Α.Π.Θ. |Library System A.U.Th. Koha at the Pontifico Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana of Rome
by Paolo Bizzarri 18 May '11

18 May '11

The Pontificio Istituto di Archeologia Cristiana of Rome (piac) is proud to announce that Koha has been choosed and installed as Library Management System of the Library. This is an important step because it is the first approach to the electronic management of the library resources. The Insitute is a member of URBE - Unione Romana Biblioteche Ecclesiastiche in Rome - Italy. Since February 1st. has been started the retrospective cataloguing work. The OPAC at the moment contains only about 2.000 records and it can be reached at http://piac.urbe.it. Many thanks to Koha Community, particularly to Zeno Tajoli who contribute with a lot of suggestions for the setting up of the system. Best Regards to all of you! by Hugo Rodrigues 18 May '11

18 May '11

Hi, I've upgraded to 3.02.09.000 as recommended. All my logs disappeared and all fields in cataloguing now appear expanded (form is also slower to load). Is this normal? Thank you for your help. Hugo Rodrigues, librarian
