Automatic patron card number assignment
by Marty 27 Jul '11

27 Jul '11

Hi all, We seem to have a rather annoying problem at the moment; our patron card numbers are set up to be automatically assigned, so if the last new patron was, say 8002, the next one would automatically be 8003 and so on. Now, after we upgraded to 3.04 it seems not to do that anymore. The switch in administration is set to "do" automatically assign cardnumbers. Is there something else I should look into or we have missed? Thanks, Marty

Collections
by nreese 27 Jul '11

Hi all, I've searched through the posts here but just can't find the answer (especially for my Koha version). I need to delete the collections that are present in the out-of-the-box version and add collections for Reference, General and Reports. Could someone point me in the right direction here? by Nicole Engard 27 Jul '11

27 Jul '11

Hi all, I'm wondering what codes may appear in the 'found' field in the reserves table and what they each mean? I have these FAQs in the manual for other tables: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.4/en/reportsfaq.html#accounttypefaq and want to add one for the reserves table. Thanks Nicole

The package can be retrieved from: http://download.koha-community.org/koha-3.04.03.tar.gz You can use the following checksum and signature files to verify the download: http://download.koha-community.org/koha-3.04.03.tar.gz.MD5 http://download.koha-community.org/koha-3.04.03.tar.gz.MD5.asc http://download.koha-community.org/koha-3.04.03.tar.gz.sig Release notes for 3.4.3 are below the fold. Come and get it! Continue reading “Koha 3.4.3 is now available” » SolR for Koha by Paul Poulain BibLibre is working hard for months to implement a new search engine for Koha: solR. Two french libraries have partially sponsored the work. One of them is now live with Koha/solR : the Limoges public library. The OPAC can be seen here: http://catalogue.bm-limoges.fr If you search for something (in french please ;-) ), like “histoire contemporaine”, you’ll see some changes in the facets : what is “faceted” is chosen by the library through the Koha admin module. On the right of each facet the number of records using this facet is displayed (and is correct). Other new features in Koha with solR search engine can be seen only in the admin interface, or when digging the code. For example you can define the indexes through the admin module (no need to update cryptic configuration files) If you want to have a look at the code, you can see the code in our solr branch: http://git.biblibre.com/?p=koha;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/dev/solr Note it’s based on HTML::Template, not Template::Toolkit. Also note that Zebra support is broken, but the code should be modular enough to have it reintroduced. We thought/found it was better to almost completely rewrite the search engine part to make it modular than to try to add solR support over zebra-related code. When will it be available in official Koha? As soon as possible. Can we estimate how much time? It won’t be in 3.6 probably, it’s too much work. So you’ll have to wait for the 2012-april or even the 2012-oct version. Koha Community New Spanish Community Site by Tomás Cohen Arazi We are pleased to announce the availability of the Spanish-speaking community’s Koha portal. You will find in it the translated official announcements and several resources and news related to the Spanish-speaking Koha community. We hope to get your feedback and support to make this site full of relevant information for the community. The address: http://es.koha-community.org Halfway to Koha 3.6 by Chris Cormack We have hit the halfway mark, for the release of the 3.6.0 feature release. 3.4.3 was just released. I just had a thought, that perhaps there are some people who aren’t sure how releases for Koha work. So I’ll do a brief summary. We work on a time based release cycle. All code is developed in the open, from multiple developers all around the world. This code is separated into adding new features, and fixing bugs. New features are released ever six months, these are the x.x.0 releases, (3.2.0, 3.4.0, 3.6.0 etc). But every month we release a bugfix release also, these are the 3.4.1, 3.4.2 etc releases. So 3.4.0 was release April 22, 3.6.0 will be release October 22. 3.4.3 will be released July 22. So the 22nd of each month is an important date in the Koha world. Read more. Self Checkout System Return Items
by WTC 26 Jul '11

26 Jul '11

Hello The return item button on our Self Checkout System has disappeared. We have upgraded to 3.4.2 from 3.2.9 recently. Previously when a patron signed in to the Self Checkout System they were presented with a list of items they had borrowed and there was a Return Item button for check in of items. Now the list is there but no Return Item button, only the word No. Is there a preference I need to update? Many thanks Rob -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Self-Checkout-System-Return-Items-tp46238… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Ldap + Active Directory
by bash-fu34 26 Jul '11

Firstly, thank you for the awesome Debian documentation! I got this far with no trouble at all. When I log into OPAC with an AD account I am told "You entered an incorrect username or password. Please try again! And remember, usernames and passwords are case sensitive." Here is some information regarding my environment (real names hidden to protect the innocent): Koha version: 3.05.00.001 Debian Squeeze DebugLevel set to 2 Windows Server 2008 r2 koha-conf.xml (ldap section) <useldapserver>1</useldapserver> <ldapserver id="ldapserver"> <hostname>DOM.TLD</hostname> <base>CN=USERS,DC=DOM,DC=TLD</base> <user>cn=USERS,dc=DOM,dc=TLD</user> <pass>PASSWD</pass> <replicate>0</replicate> <update>0</update> <auth_by_bind>1</auth_by_bind> <principal_name>%s(a)DOM.TLD</principal_name> <mapping> <firstname is="givenname" ></firstname> <surname is="sn" ></surname> <address is="postaladdress" ></address> <city is="" >CITY, ST</city> <zipcode is="postalcode" ></zipcode--> <branchcode is="branch" >MAIN</branchcode> <branchcode is="" ></branchcode> <userid is="samaccountname" ></userid> <password is="userpassword" ></password> <categorycode is="employeetype" >PT</categorycode> <categorycode is="" >PT</categorycode> <phone is="telephonenumber"></phone> </mapping> </ldapserver> I have tried enabling replicate and/or update, when I do I see the following error: Can't call method "exists" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap.pm line 168, <DATA> line 522. Line 168 contains: $userldapentry->exists('uid'); I've tried changing 'uid' to 'samaccount' since that's what I have in our schema but the error is the same. I see that one user was able to get AD working by editing the Auth_with_ldap.pm file: http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2009-May/018547.html The page he links to does not seem to be available at the moment, not even a google-cached version. When I make the edits that he mentions Koha will not even load and I get this error: Software error: Global symbol "$res" requires explicit package name at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap.pm line 141, <DATA> line 522. Global symbol "$res" requires explicit package name at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap.pm line 142, <DATA> line 522. Global symbol "$res" requires explicit package name at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap.pm line 143, <DATA> line 522. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-user.pl line 25, <DATA> line 522. I have spent most of the day reading through any and all Ldap/AD-related posts on the Koha mailing lists but I don't see anything that stands out as what I am doing wrong or that applies to my situation. Is there some other way to get more verbose feedback, or perhaps something that should be done differently for Server 2008? Thanks for reading :-) -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Ldap-Active-Directory-tp4533702p4533702.h… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
