Re: [Koha] printing non-receipt-size docs via firefox - how?
by Liz Rea 17 Feb '12

We use a customized version of Firefox for this, it's basically portable firefox that we set up with the receipt printers so that users can use their normal, installed firefox to print "normal" sized documents on the regular printer. You can have a look at it here: http://www.nexpresslibrary.org/go-live/install-firefox/ Liz Rea NEKLS On Fri, Feb 17, 2012 at 1:35 PM, Adams, Jason <JAdams(a)washoecounty.us> wrote: > Ever since we've installed Koha with Epson receipt printers and Dymo > label writers attached (and various other standard networked printers), > we've had difficulties printing anything else but receipts via Mozilla > Firefox (i.e. web pages, database docs, print-screens, and even Koha > holds reports). A line such as: 192.168.3.3 s1.server1.bz That should work for LAN use so long as you have something in your ifcfg like: NETWORK=192.168.3.0 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 IPADDR=192.168.3.3 You can modify the setup when you "go public". Dear Koha Kommunitarians, I'm harvesting news for the February newsletter. Please send me by the 25th anything you think your fellow community members might like to know about. "News" can be as short as a sentence or as long as a paper. I especially encourage you to send me a line or two about what you're currently working on for publication in the gossip/society column. And if you know of a go-live not announced on the list, please be sure to let me know about it. Thanks, Daniel Grobani

Servers for US Public Libraries
by G. Laws 16 Feb '12

16 Feb '12

http://home.techsoup.org/Stock/Pages/Product.aspx?id=HW-46674&cat=TechSoup%… Many libraries are currently facing funding chalenges; Techsoup (techsoup.org) sometimes has servers available to organizations at fair prices. Although currently out-of-stock, the above server is an example of equipment that US NPOs and public libraries can sometimes obtain. Four Opterons and 32GB of memory would make a decent Koha server (=? understatement); if you needed more storage you could just attach a NAS box or similar. If interested, you need to check the site periodically because stuff comes and goes. If really interested, it would be advisable to pre-register because they do check eligibility. Other items, like network switches, are also listed; start at the base URL to find their offerings. Most of the Techsoup software is very Microsoft-centric and comes with certain restrictions; I've not found the software to be as desirable as hardware. -- Greg Lawson Rolling Hills Consolidated Library 1912 N.
