Bug of MARC XML export.
by aszomor＠szomor.hu 02 Aug '12

02 Aug '12

Dear Developers, I installed the latest version onto an Ubuntu 12.0.4 LTS yesterday and I imported staged MARC records into this instance, then I would like to control datas whit an export. I found a bug the XML type of MARC export does not create a "collection" root node just simply put "record" nodes without this and repeat the <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> header before "record" nodes. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <collection ...> <record ...> </record> <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <record ...> </record> </collection> Best Regards, Attila.

Searching shelving location fails
by Elaine Bradtke 01 Aug '12

01 Aug '12

We have storage all over the building so shelving locations are vital, and occasionally subject to change. We've got the locations all set up in authorized values, and all the item records have shelving locations in 952 c. But when I search loc=st or any of the other codes we use for shelving locations, nothing comes up. I've tried this in 3.8 (test) and 3.6.2 (production), with z39.50 imported records, uploaded records and original catalog records. The result is always the same "No results match your search for 'kw,wrdl: loc=st' in The Vaughan Williams Memorial Library, EFDSS Catalog. I also tried it with 'Shelving Location' option in the pulldown menu in advanced search, still no results. Collection code searches work just fine, so it's not a problem with all searches on authorized values in item records. Have I missed a setting somewhere? Fwd: KOHA Hold Settings & Costs
by Lori Bowen Ayre 01 Aug '12

FYI, I responded to Josh too...with slightly different answers! I wish the Koha list "replied to all" by default..... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Lori Bowen Ayre <lori.ayre(a)galecia.com> Date: Tue, Jul 31, 2012 at 8:10 AM Subject: Re: [Koha] KOHA Hold Settings & Costs To: Josh Mikow <joshmikow(a)gmail.com> Josh, 1. Yes, see the emailLibrarianWhenHoldIsPlaced<http://manual.koha-community.org/3.10/en/administration.html#emailLibrarian…> system preference. 2. I think you have to create a manual invoice for lost items. See http://manual.koha-community.org/3.8/en/patroninformation.html#patronfines 3. See the circulation fine rules table. More info here: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.8/en/patscirc.html#circfinerules 4. yes. The answers above can be dug up from the documentation which is more complete for version 3.8 than 3.10 but you can find what you need with some poking around. See http://koha-community.org/documentation/ for both manuals. koha
by Uğur Bulgan 01 Aug '12

Hello, We plan to migrate to Koha. And we are testing KOHA 3.8. I have got some questions: When we create a new bibliographic record, can we control LC call number in 050 marc field in the course of record if it has been used before or not? That is to say, can we check duplicate control of 050 field in the course of record? Another subject I want to ask: In serials module, If the vendor changes while renewing subscriptions of currently issues, how can we change this?. In other words, while it is A firm for 2011, if it is B firm for 2012 can we change this? Lastly, as a WEB interface, we are thinking to use VUFIND 1.3. How can we show numbers ofcurrently issues and "lib has" for journals in VUFIND? Should we make some attachments to marc field in KOHA? (marc field 852, 866 etc.) Our IP adress which we are testing on: 193.140.135.208 Ugur BULGAN

KOHA Hold Settings & Costs
by Josh Mikow 01 Aug '12

01 Aug '12

Good Afternoon, I'm a tech person who is working with our church librarians to upgrade their software and they asked me a few things about KOHA that I'm not sure about. 1. Can we have an email sent whenever a hold is placed on a resource by a patron? This would allow us to notify the librarians so they can pull the resource. 2. How do we set the replacement costs for a resource? 3. How do we configure the system to automatically set fines for resources that are checked out? 4. Is there a way to show the amazon image of a resource if we don't have one available? We're currently on version 3.8.03 and I really don't know anything about library management so any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Josh

Re: [Koha] SQL queries to delete records from the database?
by Sonia P. 01 Aug '12

01 Aug '12

Hello everyone Re: my reindexing problems (the SQL query being just what I thought would help solving the problem). A big thank you to everyone around. I received some help (private messages) and I think the problem is solved now. My understanding of the problem is that the cron job was all messed up (probably my fault). No further indexing problem since the cronjob has been redone properly. Many many thanks to everyone here for their support! Sonia.
