by Magnus Enger 08 Aug '12

08 Aug '12

Dear Community! The bug wranglers are a bit rusty, but we would like to suggest a GBSD for Friday 2012-08-10 (yup, that's *this* Friday)! All the usual activities of signing off patches etc are encouraged: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/2012-08-10_Global_bug_squashing_day Remember that even one signoff will now make your name show up on the super cool dashboard Chris C has created: http://dashboard.koha-community.org/ ... as well as in future relase notes! Best regards, Magnus Enger

Dear All, I am new in KOHA please help me to learn it, thanks. We get about 30-50 new book's information in MARC record format everyday and I would like to run a night-time thread to import them day by day. I found stage_biblios_file.pl and commit_biblios_file.pl utilities at http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Useful_scripts please recommend me use case examples of them. Best Regards, Attila.

Hi all, I am struggling with this error. I installed koha 3.8.2 on debian 6. When i search other databases using z3950 i get the following error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 758. I have failed to understand since i can manually add biblios using original cataloguing to the database. Ps help

Overdue items that aren't yet overdue
by Seth Mayo 07 Aug '12

07 Aug '12

This last week we upgraded to the latest release, 3.8.3, and we now have a strange problem where when you create a print slip in a patron's file, they will have the overdue section with a book that is due today even through the time for it to become overdue is in another 8 hours time. Being at a school, we have the kids return books as a class on the exact day it is due so it isn't overdue until we get past the due date. In past versions all the books were listed as on loan but never overdue unless the date and time were past - but now the unique case of when the date = today, it is always listed as overdue. Is there an easy way to fix this? Perhaps some setting somewhere? We've had a look around over the past couple of days and all we found was the template which is definitely set out right still. FYI - exact description of the librarian "This morning we noticed that books due back today appear as "overdues" on the print slip (student borrower card/print button). This wasn't the case yesterday." The difference between 'this morning' and 'yesterday' in the librarian's comment is that we upgraded Koha overnight. Thanks for your help in advance. The following tables should all have some sample content in order for the enhanced messages to work correctly: - message attribues (6) - message_transport_type (4) - message_transports (14) You can check in your reports module. If the configuration there is missing, that could perhaps explain your problems. Dear all We hope if you can create a new list for the Koha Arab Community we need this because the community now depending on poorly groups in (facebook) and it doesn't have the features of archiving and safety issues that you all know and we want it to be a mailing list (and forum ) in the same time as it is here . And we are planing to have an Arabic koha community website (interface) that Mr Massoud start something like this on his own server but we need to make this more formal so please advice us about this : - Arabic Mailing list like the German one : http://lists.koha-community.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/koha-i18n-german But please note that we need it to use utf-8 ( in digest) for the Arabic characters - Arabic web site ( for news and encouraging the Arab community to contribute to the international community of koha ) http://ar.koha-community.org and thank you ALL for your efforts -- Karam Qubsi Koha Arab Translating Team http://koha.wikibrary.org/ Wikibrary for Arab Librarians http://wikibrary.org

Circulation Errors after Upgrade
by Josh Mikow 05 Aug '12

05 Aug '12

Good afternoon, I recently installed a test server (a few months ago) for our church to migrate from Koha 3.01 to 3.6 (now at 3.8.03). As a part of the testing of the new server, our librarians finally took a look at the system and found some errors and I really have no clue where to start when it comes to troubleshooting them. 1. Trying to check-out, check-in or renewing items fails. The errors returned is "Can't call method "subfield" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2965." 2. When searching our catalog, the list of results shows "No Holds Allowed" but on our current system holds are allowed. Librarians can place items on hold once they click into the item. 3. The list of search results also shows that there are "No items" under Location when we actually have many items. So far none of our items show anything being available. Can someone provide some tips or places to start when figuring out what is causing these issues? Thanks, Josh
