by Esmael Wan 09 Aug '12

im consistent on koha since few years back but on the librarian side, teaching koha users how to catalog, searching etc ... but not on the technical part especially on installation or error correction etc..... It happened last month, when the technical people left the system with unfinished work. he migrated to new version (version 8,x) in fact he did new/fresh installation from old version 2.2.9. everything seem ok accept on opac part ... the opac page only show its work ! not as usual koha. i m hoping someone here could lend some idea how to make it as what is opac supposed to be ? regards esmael

Replacing all of the biblios
by Darla Grediagin 09 Aug '12

09 Aug '12

Good morning, I have done some major changes to my MARC records this summer. Is there an easy way to remove the existing records and replace them with the edited ones. The goal for this is to have records that have correct item types and remove records that were duplicate and had no items. The current database is about 500 MB and it should be about 70MB. Thanks for any information, Darla -- Darla Grediagin District Librarian Bering Strait School District Unalakleet, Alaska Web Address : http://bssdonline.org/course/view.php?id=51 Blog: http://aklibrarian1.edublogs.org/ OPAC: http://opac.bssd.org:8282

Importing individual records
by Seth Mayo 09 Aug '12

09 Aug '12

The librarian has asked me to investigate an issue where when she using Z39.50 to search for a biblio and then proceeds through the process of adding it and an item, she is left with a record that is forever in the reservoir. I've looked around online and in the mailing list and I haven't found anything like this... Being the 'IT' guy and not the librarian, I'm trying to gather how it all works as well. Best I can work out you can add individual records with Z39.50 from the cataloging screen which will at the end add it into the catalogue or you can perform a staged marc import. What our librarian needs to do is import 1 off books and not staged batches. So I would assuming using the Z39.50 search button, adding the biblio and then an item would be all that is needed to complete this task. Is this correct? If it is correct, the records are going into a reservoir instead of the catalogue. I can find online that the reservoir is used with the staged method but I can't find anything that says it is used elsewhere. How can records be released into the catalogue using the 1 off method instead of the staged method? I has been mentioned that this behaviour has changed since we upgraded Koha for them. Apparently before the upgrade, the 1 off books could be imported in this method. Is something broken or am I missing something somewhere? I also found a website that mentioned the need for an ongoing cron job with misc/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -z. I've manually executing this to see if it would import the reservoir items but it hasn't changed anything... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. And I should have read down to the bottom of the page at http://koha-community.org/support/koha-mailing-lists/ to see the other sites. Don't know why I didn't. Patron Messaging Pref greyed out
by Geanina King 08 Aug '12

08 Aug '12

Hello, I am having issues with making changes to the Patron Messaging Preferences. I have attached the screen shots of what I see when I try to modify the patron's preferences. I have set EnhancedMessagingPreferences to Allow. Is there a way to set a default value for patrons? I am a bit new to the Koha system and would really appreciate any guidance you could provide. Thanks, Geanina King Library Systems Analyst The University of Texas at Tyler gking(a)uttyler.edu (903) 566-6133

3.8 - Circulation and fine rules in days not working - Debarred / Restricted
by anjoze 08 Aug '12

08 Aug '12

Hi Our Library works with days suspension. I had koha running on 3.2 with no problem. I've upgraded to version 3.8 and koha started to debar all borrwoers. When I check-in the item, it says: /"PatronName" is now debarred until "Date/Of/Debarrement"/ In Patron file is: /Restricted: Patron's account is restricted until "DateOfDebarrement"/ I've checked rules, delete them and create them again, checked the server date, Systemprefs, etc... I cant find the problem. The rule that Koha is applying is the most restrictive like if the borrower pass the due date. Example: *Rule:* Loan Periode:16 - Fine charging interval:1 - Suspension in days (day):1 *Details:* Date:03/08/2012 - Checked out on:03/08/2012 22:04 - Date due:22/08/2012 23:59 - Return date:03/08/2012 22:04 *Problem:* Restricted: Patron's account is restricted until 10/09/2012 Thanks for any help. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/3-8-Circulation-and-fine-rules-in-days-no… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
