How to update two koha databases in different servers.
by otuoma peter 11 May '13

11 May '13

I have two koha installations. One on a production server and another on a standby back-up server. Is there a way I can have all the changes made to the database on the production server also updated to the standby back-up server? I am thinking of doing it using an entry in a cronjob file that runs once everyday at night. If possible, I only need to import the updates. Thanks in advance.

Hi Yvonne, If you know some SMTP commands, you can use smtp commands to test if postfix is functioning properly. We have a project with a very specific and aggressive timeline in place. We intend to have this coded and fully tested by the end of July 2013 as we have an ILL system within our state that we need to begin connecting to by the beginning of September 2013. This project will be expensive and we are looking outward to see if there are other Koha users that have an immediate need for NCIP capabilities and would be interested in partnering with us on this project. In order to make the partnership productive and effective, you would really need to have a system that you want to test NCIP with and you would need to be willing to share in the full cost of the project with us. Please get in touch with me if you would like to work with us on this. Thanks, Nora ________________________ Nora Blake MassCat Manager Massachusetts Library System P.O. New Report Update
by Cab Vinton 10 May '13

10 May '13

I've setup an alert on the Koha Reports wiki page -- http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library -- & thought others might also be interested in hearing about new reports as they're added. I'm using a Chrome extension, Page Monitor to get the updates, available here:- https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakcinieben…<https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-monitor/pemhgklkefakcinieben…> Unless there's an overwhelming hue & cry to cease & desist, I'll continue with updates as they happen. Cheers, Cab Vinton Sanbornton Public Library Holds Ratio by Homebranches - *Developer:* George H. Williams - Latah County Library District - *Module:* Holds - *Purpose:* Essentially the same as "Hold Ratios" in the circulation reports but with item Homebranch information instead of Holdingbranch - *Notes:* I didn't build the link to the biblio in the title field (as it is in the circulation report) so it would be easy for our staff to download the file as a spreadsheet if necessary. I also included some very basic 'notforloan' data for their information. - *Status:* Complete SELECT count(DISTINCT reserves.borrowernumber) AS HOLDCOUNT, count(DISTINCT items.itemnumber) AS ITEMCOUNT, (COUNT(DISTINCT reserves.borrowernumber) / count(DISTINCT items.itemnumber)) AS RATIO, biblio.title, CONCAT( '<a href=\"/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionumber=', biblio.biblionumber,'\" target="_blank">', biblio.biblionumber, '</a>' ) AS 'LINK_TO_BIBLIO', GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT items.homebranch SEPARATOR ' // ') AS HOMEBRANCHES, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT items.location SEPARATOR ' // ') AS LOCATIONS, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT items.itype SEPARATOR ' // ') AS ITYPES, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT items.itemcallnumber SEPARATOR ' // ') AS CALLNUMBERS, GROUP_CONCAT(DISTINCT items.notforloan SEPARATOR ' // ') AS NOTLOAN FROM reserves LEFT JOIN items ON items.biblionumber=reserves.biblionumber LEFT JOIN biblio ON reserves.biblionumber=biblio.biblionumber WHERE items.itemlost=0 AND items.damaged=0 GROUP BY biblio.biblionumber HAVING (COUNT(DISTINCT reserves.borrowernumber) / count(DISTINCT items.itemnumber))>3 ORDER BY RATIO DESC

I have Koha 3.10.5 in Debian Squeeze. For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. Also, please, note that it runs building a Perl hashtag in memory, with an entry for each new value encountered. It can be fail with very large .mrc files. HTH. Stefano

Academic Journal Search through Koha
by Joel Coehoorn 09 May '13

09 May '13

We're a small college library, but we also have subscriptions to a few academic journals. Is it possible to set things up so that a search on koha would potentially include results from those journals? Would I have to inquire with the journal about getting periodic Marc record updates or a z39.50 connection, or is there something else I can do? I'm thinking mainly of Academic Search Premier, but we have some others as well. http://www.ebscohost.com/academic/academic-search-premier
