Koha Rebuild and Upgrade - If I only had a brain!
by Phillip Ponchot 20 Dec '13

20 Dec '13

I'm having to build a new koha server and then move koha files over to the new server (which will be an upgraded version). My situation is that Koha is tied to the web server and of course most of the data is in the Koha databases. As I understand, I have to: 1. Install Koha. 2. Upgrade Koha. 3. Dump the Koha Database. 4. Copy it to a pen drive (the old server is no longer connected to the intranet). 5. Import the Koha Database 6. It is my understanding at this point that I have to do something to get the New Koha to recognize the imported database as the format will still be in the old Koha Format. Can anyway tell me what commands and how to to this? 7. Also all the web pages are done via Koha (maybe via WordPress). Does anyone know the procedures to get this back up and working? I've got a good feeling about this but I know from technical experience with other programs that doing things in the right steps is crucial. I do read the instructions but sometimes there are little catches that are not included. Thanks for any help and thanks to everyone who replied to my previous post. Our Koha is down hard and I'm determined to get it back up and running ASAP. Phillip

bug upgrading koha 3.12.3 to 3.14?
by Hugo Agud 20 Dec '13

20 Dec '13

Hi We are upgrading koha 3.12.3 to koha 3.14, and we are facing one error that we think it could be a bug, does anybody found something similar? In the database there is not any borrower or any patronimage at koha 3.12.3, browsing bugzilla we have found bug 10636 http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10636<http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10636> it is the same error, but we can't see why it is happeing in the update process.. . One interesting issue is that the updatedatabase.pl thinks the source version is 3.13 Update report : - Status: 500 - Content-type: text/html - - <h1>Software error:</h1> - <pre>DBD::mysql::db do failed: Error on rename of './koha_etnologic/patronimage' to './koha/#sql2-8f59-18b' (errno: 152) at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.plline 7243. - </pre> - <p> - For help, please send mail to the webmaster (<a href="mailto: webmaster@icub">webmaster@icub</a>), giving this error message - and the time and date of the error. - - </p> Update errors : - [Thu Dec 19 23:28:21 2013] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate column name 'borrowernumber' at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.plline 7224. - [Thu Dec 19 23:28:21 2013] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Error on rename of './koha/patronimage' to './koha/#sql2-8f59-18b' (errno: 152) at /usr/share/koha_etnologic/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/ updatedatabase.pl line 7243. - [Thu Dec 19 23:28:21 2013] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Error on rename of './koha_etnologic/patronimage' to './koha/#sql2-8f59-18b' (errno: 152) at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.plline 7243. thanks to all! Re: [Koha] New Serials Documentation
by Francois Charbonnier 19 Dec '13

Hi Nicole, The locale option is useful when you want to display days, month or season. If you have a german serial, you can use the german locale option to display days, etc. in german. It doesn't work actually but this patch fixes the problem : http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11262 The inner counter doesnt tell system when the number should go back to 1. It is used when you need a "circular" pattern to tell koka how many issues you received or would have received after the beginning of the "circle". If you start receiving issues in the middle of a circular pattern, it helps the system to fall back on the correct numbering when the numbering go back to 1. (Sorry for my broken english....) Check the example in the attached file. It should helps! ;) Francois

You don't say what version of Koha, nor what your "old" server was... [Knowing I'm leaving myself open to severe criticism] I often "move" a fully working version of Koha 3.8.x from one Ubuntu 12.04 server to another by (a) insuring all dependences are installed, (b) copying /usr/share/koha, (c) dumping and restoring the MySQL db in /var/lib/mysql, (d) complete reindex (biblios and authorities) of Zebra. YMMV. Best - Paul

Re: [Koha] Link to external patron picture
by Stefano Bargioni 19 Dec '13

Hi Rudy, do you have pictures based on borrower cardnumber? I.e. something like http://your.pictures.host/pictureID/12345.jpg In this case, you can try to add an <img src="http://your.pictures.host/pictureID/12345.jpg"> element to the page http://your_koha_staff:8080/cgi-bin/koha/members/moremember.pl?borrowernumb… using intranetuserjs system preference. This solution will survive Koha upgrades. If this is good for you, I can add more details. Bye. Koha Rebuild - Looking for the man behind the curtain

I'm installing a new Koha Server on Unbuntu o replace a dying server and I thought I could get some pointers here concerning the process. I have loaded Unbuntu 12.04 LTS Server and will be installing the Koha package on the server tomorrow. After I install the Koha package, I'm wanting to know how I can configure the Koha server to act like the one I'm replacing. Does anyone have any documentation on moving a Koha install to another server? Thanks for any help. Phillip

Re: [Koha] Koha Users of North America Email List

At 02:44 PM 12/16/2013 -0600, Nicole Engard wrote: >Can we also get this list added to the list of mailing lists on the Koha >site? No suggestion of a "fictional conspiracy theory", but a couple of days ago we were happy to see that Koha belongs to the international Koha community, and that [American] PTFS had lost in court. So why an "American" list? (and from another thread, "American" meeting?) I'm in Canada so the idea that "discussion will at times [be?] related to issues more important to users in North America" is tempting. But possibly divisive, or worse, discriminatory. Koha is open source *software*, and while translations, char sets that transcend UTF-8, whatever, may occasionally be nationalistic, why another list? Ms Blake -- could you please explain why I should sign up to your new list? And what might be "more important" to NA users that is not appropriate on this list? Link to external patron picture
by ISM KIS 18 Dec '13

18 Dec '13

Just upgraded to 3.14 With every new version I'm installing I have to manually change some files to allow accessing the patron pictures which are already there on our school system. Is there a way that would allow me to use an link to an external picture (instead of uploading the pictures to Koha or changing code) ? Any setting to do that I have not found so far?
