User Permissions
by Alexey Tselykh 26 Aug '14

26 Aug '14

Dear Koha community, I installed Koha 3.16.02, logged into Admin interface with the database administrator account, then created Patron category "Staff", then added a new patron/user under this category. When trying to give that user "superlibrarian" permissions (More - Set permissions) I receive an empty list of permissions to choose from, please see the screenshot http://p.lui.li/img- 40826_screenshot_p-r-full.png. In MySQL database, user_permissions table has no records. I added a new record: borrownumber=1, module_bit=0. Nno effect. Please, advise. Why the list of permissions is empty? Regards, Alexey Koha version: 3.16.02.000 OS version: Linux debian7-koha 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.60-1+deb7u1 x86_64 GNU/Linux Perl version: 5.014002 MySQL version: mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.5.38, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.2 Apache version: Server version: Apache/2.2.22 (Debian)

koha sorting issues
by Haik Zargaryan 26 Aug '14

26 Aug '14

Dear list, I have previously written to the list about our issues with sorting search results in our non-latin character catalog. I have been advised to modify the sort-string-utf.chr file but it did not work. Now i am trying to achieve this by converting the character set and collation of the MySQL tables. We have converted the collation of the table biblio, deleted the zebra index and re-indexed it, but still the non-latin character search results are sorted incorrectly, when I sort them for example by title. Could you please advise me which specific table should be altered? In what table is the MARC information stored? Of course, any other advice to solve the sorting issue is also welcomed. Regards, Hayk.

Proposed patch to add in-browser support of Indian/non-Latin language typing in Koha
by Indranil Das Gupta 26 Aug '14

26 Aug '14

Hi all, [apologies for X-Posting] Browser based on-the-fly transliterated input on the OPAC was a long-standing requirement particularly in the Indian Koha user community. Indian government recognises 22 official languages for the purpose of official correspondance. The earlier attempts to add GoogleIndicTransliteration was a step in this direction. But that attempt did not finally clear QA. Google Transliteration API was deprecated in June 2011 and it's general Terms of Service (ToS) are not FOSS friendly. In contrast, jQuery.IME is dual-licensed under GPLv2+ and MIT. It is a key component of Wikimedia's (the organisation behind Wikipedia.org) global language engineering stack. At present, this represents robust, well tested support for over 135 input methods spanning over 67 languages. I've uploaded a patch (http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=31152) against the bug number http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=12815. The patch is against the current Koha master. I would like to request interested users to have a look and preferably test it. The patch work both in the OPAC as well as in Koha's staff client interface. Screenshots of the patch in action: http://imgur.com/a/2gB7H#0 and http://imgur.com/a/2gB7H#2 cheers, -indra -- Indranil Das Gupta Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://indradg.randomink.org/blog IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please exchange editable Office documents only in ODF Format. Koha - creating OAI datasets
by Steve Sowder 25 Aug '14

25 Aug '14

I have defined an OAI Data set. In my set mapping I have "595s matches SDAPI" (but in the nomenclature of Koha) After running the program to build the set, the resulting OAI file has _all_ records the database. Not just the ones that matches the map. What am I not doing correctly? Note: We are on v3.16.02.000 Thanks Steve sowder(a)andrews.edu BTW: A "should not be there record" is at http://koha.andrews.edu/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl?verb=GetRecord&identifier=SDAPI… A "is and should be there" is at http://koha.andrews.edu/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl?verb=GetRecord&identifier=SDAPI…

I think it is possible without EDS using only EBSCO MARC records and import them to koha. It's right? EBSCO http://www.ebscohost.com/biomedical-libraries/ebscoadmin What you think about?
