Enabling LDAP in Koha
by CTS-Programmer 3 (Paul Dokken) 27 Mar '15

27 Mar '15

Has anyone successfully enabled LDAP for Koha. We have an Active Directory server we can use. We would use a patron's email address for the login id. I'm assuming that we would use LDAP for both the OPAC client and the administration site. Libéo removed from support provider directory
by Galen Charlton 25 Mar '15

25 Mar '15

Hi, This is a public notification per the policy for paid support provider listings [1] that Libéo has been removed from the directory. I took this action because the link [2] in their directory entry is broken and because their website shows no other indication that Koha services are still being offered. This message is also being sent to the contact address that was listed for this provider. The provider may request to have the listing restored if they confirm that they are still offering Koha services. I need help with Koha OAI Server
by benson Mugambi 25 Mar '15

25 Mar '15

Hi folks,I am working on availing koha database for external indexing using OAI:PMH but i have run into some difficulties. I believe members of this community with experience working on OAI can give clues on how to resolve. First i am running Koha-common 3.18.05.100 on ubuntu trusty 14.04 - 64bit All the perl modules are in green status apart from Readonly::XS which i have fiddled with unsuccessfully. I am able to index and search all records without any problems . I have enabled OAI server and configured sets from the intranet interface but i have ran into difficulties immediately when trying to build the sets: Earlier on i was unable to find the standard OAI command among the commands provided by debian packages (http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Commands_provided_by_the_Debian_packages) When i tried to do it directly i got an exception: root@bibliotheque:~# /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/build_oai_sets.pl -o -l -v unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. unable to locate Koha configuration file koha-conf.xml at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 373. Can't call method "config" on unblessed reference at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 779. Eventually, i was able to execute the build sets by issuing the command sudo KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/build_oai_sets.pl -o -l -v I thought i was out of the woods, but accessing the OAI url produced another exception: XML Parsing Error: junk after document element Location: http://localhost:8001/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl Line Number 2, Column 1:<pre>Can't call method "start_element" on an undefined value at /usr/local/share/perl/5.18.2/HTTP/OAI/Response.pm line 114. ^ How do i move forward from here? I have almost reached the EOTC (End of Thinking Capacity) Regards, Benson

Serial Subscription Help
by Nicole Engard 24 Mar '15

24 Mar '15

Hi all, I have this subscription: http://annals.org/issues.aspx You can see the the numbering/dates should look like this: Jan 7 160 (1) Jan 21 160 (2) Feb 4 160 (3) Feb 18 160 (4) Mar 4 160 (5) Mar 18 160 (6) Apr 1 160 (7) Apr 15 160 (8) May 6 160 (9) May 20 160 (10) Jun 3 160 (11) Jun 17 160 (12) Jul 1 161 (1) Jul 15 161 (2) Aug 5 161 (3) Aug 19 161 (4) Sep 2 161 (5) Sep 16 161 (6) Oct 7 161 (7) Oct 21 161 (8) Nov 4 161 (9) Nov 18 161 (10) Dec 2 161 (11) Dec 16 161 (12) But when I put it in I get this: http://screencast.com/t/0PTXDxJC (note that the dates on the pattern on the right don't match the dates above - the numbering is right though) How do I set up a pattern for 2 times a month? Thanks a bunch in advance! Nicole PS. This will go in the manual.

Koha Patrons not searchable after migration
by Admire Mutsikiwa 24 Mar '15

24 Mar '15

I have been running Koha installed via the tar ball method. I then migrated the koha database to a new server installed via the apt-get install koha-common on Ubuntu as on http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages . I have re-index the browse index using koha-rebuild-zebra -v -f {instance} and I can search books on the catalog. However, I cannot search for patron records using their surname. I can only pick a patron record using the barcode. How do I rectify this issue? How do i enable & configure Koha OAI-PMH server
by benson Mugambi 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Hi Folks,I am implementing Vufind2 federated search to facilitate indexing koha, ejournals and dspace e-repository. It has been a bit straight forward to harvest metadata from the dspace repository using OAI-PMH, but i had to import marc records to vufind to populate the indexes with bibliographic records. The problem with this method is that any updates on the ILS cannot be automatically reflected on the vufind index. With a OAI-PMH harvesting, it would be possible to automatically sychronize the updates on ILS and the e-repository with vufind. I have zero experience on Koha's OAI-PMH configuration and access. I would really appreciate if anyone can give some easy steps on how to configure Koha's OAI-PMH. If anyone has experience harvesting Koha metadata using OAI-PMH, i would be happy to know how they went about it.Regards,Benson Mugambi If a donkey kicks you and you kick back, you are both donkeys. Cron job in KOHA 3.18 Configuring Error
by Arun Kumar 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Hi, I have installed the new version of KOHA 3.18 through apt-get on ubuntu 12.04 and i am facing a weird problem with cron settings i have configured it before for KOHA 3.16 it works just fine but the problem lies on the latest version, even with the default setting of koha cron also doesn't go well for fine calculation, process_message_queue, n others as well Is this problem related to zebra-daemon whichis newly introduced in 3.18 that needs to be activated for the cron's to run, or is the problem with the release itself. Any pointers would be helpful Regards Arunkumar
