Koha Export ISBN
by Daniel Glendening 19 Apr '16

19 Apr '16

Hi all, Running into something that seems like it should be simple, but I'm running in circles trying to figure it out -- is there a simple (or not simple) way to export a document containing titles, authors, and isbn numbers? In truth, all I really need are the isbns -- stocktaking and inventory exports don't seem to include isbn numbers as a field. I could make a "List" and export that as csv, but I want ALL the isbns in my library, in which case it seems like i'd have to add all titlesmanually to a list. So, in short, my goal is: a document, preferably CSV, containing all isbns in my koha library of approx 3000 items. Any tips? Many thanks, Daniel

Koha in school library
by Deb Vincent 19 Apr '16

19 Apr '16

Hi all I have cancelled my existing ILS to switch to Koha in our school library. Unfortunately I had to give a year's notice to terminate the contract, but on the plus side it gives me more time to set up Koha properly before making the switch. So far, our IT team have set up Koha on the server, and I have been able to load existing students to the system. My main difficulty is going to be importing our existing catalogue. I can export the basic data from our current ILS in an Excel spreadsheet, but not marc format. I know I can convert from Excel to marc21 using MarcEdit, but I am not yet familiar enough with the marc system to understand how to do this. I would be very grateful for any advice. Also, is there any way of importing barcodes of existing holdings at the same time, or does this have to be done manually after the catalogue records have been imported? Many thanks.

Koha delete Item type
by Decka David 19 Apr '16

19 Apr '16

Hi Koha Team, After installing Koha 3.20 on Ubuntu 14.04 and setting up libraries and items type and other necessary customization of modules, I did a mistake on Item type which I would like to delete one of the Item type. I found the mistake after doing a catalogue test to one of the item and I wanted to delete the item type but I could not. I got the message saying; cannot delete item type. The record is used 1 times. Deletion is not possible. Can someone help to advice simple way to delete the item type or has someone have similar issue before that advice. Thanks and appreciate any feedbacks so I can start complete the Koha setup. Decka PNG

Search results display (opac-facets.inc)
by King, Fred 18 Apr '16

18 Apr '16

Hello everyone, I'm running Koha 3.20.05 on Ubuntu 14.04. It's on our Intranet, so I can't give you a link yet. I'm trying to figure out how to modify the display of search results; in particular, a couple of fields displayed by the file opac-facets.inc in /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/opac-tmpl/bootstrap/en/includes. First one: In the Item types administration (http://(intranet):8282/cgi-bin/koha/admin/itemtypes.pl) I have an itype with a code of "ART" and description of "Journal Article." Let's say I go to the main Koha search screen and type in "shorr." On the right-hand side, I get the records as formatted by results.xsl. No problem there. However, on the left-hand side under "Item types" I get both "art" and "Journal Article." The links to "art" look like this: http://(intranet):82/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&q=shorr&sort_by=relevance_dsc&limit=itype:art whereas the articles to "Journal Article" look like this: http://(intranet):82/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&q=shorr&sort_by=relevance_dsc&limit=itype:ART If I try narrowing by clicking on either term, or both terms, the number is the same, so it isn't a matter of different records formatted different ways. Somewhere in the depths of Koha, "Item types" is drawing information from both the Item type code and the Item type description. Is there an easy way to change the display to just show the Item type description? Second one: The "Topics" field displays five subject headings (650$a), and when I click on "Show more" it displays 20 subject headings. Is there a way to display ALL the subject headings turned up by this particular search? There will be a lot of them, but I want to display them all for this catalog.
