Migrating Data from Koha 3.14 to Koha 16.11...
by Samuel Crawford 12 May '17

12 May '17

Greetings, Koha Community! I have a tech dilemma re: the Koha upgrade we're currently trying to implement. The issue was recently brought to our attention by the lead "support" in our IT Department, Jovian. Jovian is pretty stellar with systems computing / working the back end of things for us; he set up our initial version of Koha (3.14) completely on his own, without a hitch. He's now prepared to help us set up the LATEST stable version of Koha (16.11, yes?), but he could use just a bit of advice from you fine folks, if anyone has any tips / information to offer... His recent messages to me are as follows: 1. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- *Currently we're running Koha 3.14 on Ubuntu 12..* *We understand the new modules and requirements for the newer releases and are looking to setup an Ubuntu 16 system with the latest version of Koha...* *What we would like to know is the best, recommended way of migrating the data from the old system to the new. I don't feel comfortable upgrading the Ubuntu 12 to 16 and maintaining its integrity.* *(**we do have a running Ubuntu 16 with the most current Koha build running fresh. Now we just need to migrate the data. We could do it manually... but key pointers may help)* ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------- 2. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *I created a backup and am currently importing it into the new Koha system.. it IS imported, but I'm running the schema upgrade. There have been some errors... so I don't know how it will all work out. The errors were due to duplicate entries and things like that so I'm not 100% on whether or not this is an issue... * *I will run the zebra index afterwards to clean up as much integrity as possible before letting you guys take a stab at the new one (assuming it will even load in the new system anymore...)* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *So I tried a straight update of the schema from that old version database to the new and there are just too many errors... duplicate entries, dirty data etc. that cause it to not roll over well. * *Patrons (or at least some) can still log in.. I can't login with the koha_library account... but the database of books didn't appear to copy over. More than likely there's some error in it that it just decided to not import any of it... * *We could try a manual import... but that would assume you could even login with your admin rights.* -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Could at least one of you out there lend your expertise and speak to the issues Jovian's encountering, and how we might resolve them? I'll be happy to put him in touch directly with a fellow Koha community member, if need be... Thanks in advance for the help, guys! Fwd: Re: bulkmarcimport
by Katrin 11 May '17

I started a staged import run about 6:16pm with 499 records. It's now 6:46pm and it's still running. The only error messages I could find are in the koha-zebraserve-output.log, 499 [warn] ir_session (exception). This from a fresh reload of the koha database; I loaded about 6000 serials records yesterday in 500 record chunks and it went fine although slow. I did use the undo when I forgot to set the framwork--nice. (It would be nice to have an audible alarm when a batch completed.) It's obviously in some sort of loop and should have terminated with an error message. I'm going to reboot, reload koha, rebuild_zebra and try again. What else can I do? Error in Patrons
by Rejeesh K.Nair 11 May '17

11 May '17

Hi All, We just migrated KOHA version 3.18.01.000 to 16.05.04. When we click on any of the letter(A-Z listing) in 'Patrons' tab it won't show the corresponding patrons. Data already exist in database and the error log shows the following error. "Argument "NO_LIBRARY_SET" isn't numeric in modulus (%) at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Context.pm line 1246.: /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/mainpage.pl," Can anyone help on this issue? Acquisitions change in Koha 16.11 and forward
by Nick Clemens 11 May '17

11 May '17

Hello All, With the current versions of Koha there have been some changes in acquisitions and how prices are calculated and there seems to be some confusion in terms and how things are currently being used. We wanted to clarify what is happening, propose a change and get feedback on what needs to happen. When placing an order there are several price fields: Vendor price (listprice in db) -This is used to populate the Replacement cost and budgeted cost on the order page. It is not used against the budget Replacement cost (rrp in db) -This is used to calculate the 'budgeted cost/ecost' in the budget - it also populates the replacement price in the item created by the aqc process once received Budgeted cost (ecost in db) -This is the replacement/rpp minus any discount on the order - this is the value that will be encumbered when the order is placed Actual cost (unitprice) -This is the eventual 'price' of the item and is the encumbered amount once the item has been received. With the changes that were made one can no longer adjust the 'Replacement/RRP' once an order is placed - this is because this value is adjusted for tax in the db (rrp_tax_excluded, rrp_tax_included) and used for calculating the ecost tax adjusted (ecost_tax_excluded, ecost_tax_included) Some libraries have been having issues as they use 'Replacement' cost mostly for populating items and are not used to it being unable to be edited and/or affecting budgets. We are proposing to rename the current 'Replacement cost' field to match the db value - 'Recommended retail price' (RRP) and add a new 'Replacement cost' field, editable at any point, that is only used for populating the item field. We think this will clear up how the other values are being used and restore functionality that changed. Please let us know if this works or what other suggestions you have here. Thank you, Nick, Kyle, Jonathan

bulkmarcimport
by Bob Ewart 10 May '17

10 May '17

I'mtrying to import about 13K records from our serials and archives recordsin dbText for Libraries into Koha. (Our books were converted in 2009) I tried: bulkmarcimport.pl -b -file serial-01.mrc -v -framework SER -all -match Control-number,001 001Code where 001Code is the matching rule set up as Nicole described to match the Control-number to the incoming 001 MARC field. It works on the web. It ran in a little over 9 seconds and said it processed 500 records. No errors were reported. After reindexing zebra, none of the records in serial-01.mrc could be found. What I want to do is to replace any matching records and insert the new ones. What am I doing wrongwith bulkmarcimport? -- Bob Ewart Koha 16.11.07 (repeat of message yesterday that didn't seem to get to the list)
