Item batch modifications using custom SQL or Perl?

I've been asked to modify a batch of item call numbers, substituting "PYA" for "PZ100" whenever the latter occurs at the beginning of the call number. This doesn't seem possible using the existing Batch Item Modification tool (batchMod.pl). I would love to do this using SQL only, like so: UPDATE items SET itemcallnumber = concat("PYA", substr(itemcallnumber, 6)) WHERE itemcallnumber LIKE 'PZ100%'; However, I suspect that this will mess up indexing or call number browse or *something*. Reading the relevant parts of C4::Items, I believe I can more safely accomplish this in Perl, something along these lines... use C4::Items; use C4::Context; use strict; use warnings; my $dbh = C4::Context->dbh; $dbh->{RaiseError} = 1; my $sql = q{ SELECT biblionumber, itemnumber, itemcallnumber FROM items WHERE itemcallnumber LIKE 'PZ100%' }; my $sth = $dbh->prepare($sql); $sth->execute; while (my ($bibnum, $itemnum, $callnum) = $sth->fetchrow_array) { $callnum =~ s/^PZ100/PYA/; ModItem( {'itemcallnumber' => $callnum}, $bibnum, $itemnum ) or print STDERR "Could not update item $itemnum\n"; } Is this pretty much the simplest way to safely make unusual batch modifications like this? Did you check the log files in directory /var/log/koha/$INSTANCE, for example "zebra-output.log"? Can you however catalog just one new record manually using the Koha menu "cataloging" and does it appear when you search for it? > But still they are not showing in catalog. So as I see from your screenshot you have already staged and imported 4'457 records but 0 items were added. Did you search your items via "Cataloging search" (searching in catalog and reservoir) or via "Search the catalog" (searching the catalog only)? However if you can't find imported records in the catalog most of the time this is because there is something wrong with your Zebra index, so I suggest to reindex your data. If you have installed Koha using Debian packages, the command is as follows: $ INSTANCE="NameOfYourKohaInstance" $ sudo koha-rebuild-zebra -v --full $INSTANCE Hope this helps. exported items catalogue search

Hi, I am trying to export biblio records from excel sheet to koha. i have added items for records. I am able to checkout that items but when i try to search them in catalogue, i did not find any result. I can find them in reservoir but in catalogue. How to move these records there?

Hi, I don't see anything obviously wrong. Please be aware that attachments can't be sent to the list - so they are not visible to the other people following this thread. It's better to upload them somewhere and provide the links in the email. This way others will be able to help. Hi. Some of our users have on-site checkout privilege only. In the Circulation page, we have to click the "On-site checkout" box for every material they borrow. It is kind of troublesome, and we sometimes forget to do that. Is there a way to set "On-site checkout" automatically? Thank you. Ma. Victoria S. Hi, Is there any way with which we can save the barcodes of batch items? i.e. through barcode scanner output file or any other thing? kindly tell all the ways through which we can save barcodes of all items in catalogue. thanks in advance.
