Hi You can use the upload plugin - upload.pl in the marc framework of your choice. NOTE: if not already configured for that you may need to edit your marc framework. Typically people edit the 856$u field to use the plugin. Hope this helps Indranil. Public library with student accounts

Are there any public libraries working with schools to create accounts for use with various digital services, checkout ...etc.? Just wondering what your process is and what rights the accounts have. Currently, we upload the accounts without checkout privileges so they can just be purged each summer and updated without having to worry about fines and whatnot. The primary use, from my understanding, is for classes needing access to research databases and possibly Overdrive. The reasoning is that they can definitely still get regular accounts and checkout physical items --- vast majority already have regular accounts but can't remember their login creds. However, two public schools have indicated that they would like the accounts to have checkout privileges baked into the auto-generated accounts. Not sure how to maintain the patron database and foresee problems. - Koha can't identify duplicate accounts. Not a limitation of Koha, just that there aren't enough match points to reliably de-dupe accounts. And even if you could ... - Student could get enough overdues to restrict access to databases making class participation difficult. - Duplicate accounts with fines. - ??? Anyone got this figured out? Why are there two SIP2 ports in Koha?

Hi When using the standard configuration in file "SIPconfig.xml" after enabling and starting the SIP2 servers there are two ports: <service port="8023/tcp" transport="telnet" protocol="SIP/2.00" timeout="60" /> <service port="127.0.0.1:6001/tcp" transport="RAW" protocol="SIP/2.00" client_timeout="600" timeout="60" /> We have just reconfigured the following line port="10.0.0.1:6001/tcp" and our 3M SelfCheck System Model 8420 can successfully connect and communicate via port 6001, without needing to add any sign in commands in expect syntax (which is needed when using port 8023 via telnet, as it is described in https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Setting_up_Koha_SIP_and_3M_machines ). Can someone please explain why there are two ports? Are these just offering the same functionality in two different ways (telnet, RAW), or is it maybe recommended to use telnet for some unknown security reasons? Hi Ellis, If you mean exporting bibs and holdings from Voyager and importing them to Koha, you can do that but the current Koha versions will treat all the records as bibliographic, which isn't very useful, and it would also lose all the links between bibs and holdings. You could use Michael's utility to move the relevant holdings fields to the bib records. This would work fine unless you have more verbose MFHDs as there's no way to say in the bib record that fields coming from a single MFHD belong together. E.g. if you have multiple holdings with 852 and 856 fields, there's no way to indicate which ones go together. Testing Koha - How to migrate data from Voyager 9 to Koha for testing?

Hi All, Greetings! ☺ I’ve successfully installed Koha in a test virtual box and hoping to explore more of what it can do and check/match/improve our current workflows. I’d like to test Koha with our actual data we have from Voyager 9.0, and wondering if anyone can point me on a direction of how to migrate our data? I’ve done a search and found, https://github.com/jcamins/koha-migration-toolbox but I am not sure if this would work on the latest Koha version as it seems that last commits was at least 4 years ago. Also, if we are to use the koha-migration-toolbox, from its scripts, it will extract CSV’s of all data, but I can’t seem to find in Koha on how to import those CSV’s? Any step-by-step guide for migrating data would be very helpful? Should XSLT add punctuation?

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding the XSLT stylesheets (for MARC21). Is it supposed to change the punctuation when displaying the record? For instance, I have a record where there is a period (.) at the end of 100$e. So in MARC, it looks like 100 1# a Goscinny, René, d 1926-1977-, e author. In intranet details, it looks like Goscinny, René, 1926-1977- [author.]. There are two periods (and no comma after the date). In the 260 field, the opposite happens. There is a period at the end of 260$c in MARC, but nothing is appearing in intranet results. 260 ## a Paris : b Gallimard jeunesse, c [2014]. In the intranet details, it looks like Paris : Gallimard jeunesse, [2014] There is no period after the date. It's not clear what the XSLT is trying to do. On one hand, it looks like it's trying to complete the punctuation, but it removes it sometimes. My knowledge of AACR2 rules for punctuation was wiped from my brain the second I graduated ~10 years ago (maybe even before, if I'm being really honest!), so I'm not even sure what the right punctuation is supposed to be. But my question is if the XSLT is supposed to mess with the punctuation or not? And if the answer is yes, shouldn't it look first in leader/18 to see if the record already has punctuation? Relator Term

Hi. We just started to use subfield e in tag 100 and 700. However, we noticed that instead of showing the relator term in OPAC with just comma (Fazio, Giovanni G., editor), it is placed inside square brackets (Fazio, Giovanni G [editor]).
