Introduction: New Koha Manager

Hello everyone, my name is Michael Adamyk and I began working at the Central Kansas Library System (CKLS) in the United States last month as the new Koha manager. When I joined the Koha Mailing List it encouraged an introductory email, so... here it is! :-) Our system is a consortium of about 50 public and school libraries that use Koha, and CKLS manages the software. ByWater Solutions provides development, support, and hosting for us. I worked with Koha in a public library in circulation and cataloging, but am new to the software management side of things, so have a lot to learn. I've found the Koha manual and am part of several Koha-US mailing lists. I'm looking forward to working with all of you and sharing ideas, tips, etc. Eventually I'm hoping to get into a bit of development, but that's probably sometime down the road. Up to now I've been mainly learning through videos I can find, the Koha manual, and just playing around with things (we have a test server which really helps the experimentation process). Any other tips anyone has for learning Koha, particularly administration and reports, would be awesome. need help with accessing koha from outside via DynDNS

Hello, I'm still in the process of testing Koha, I have installed it on a virtual machine on my local network. This works so far. I also added some books to the database. Now I want to let other people outside of my local network test this installation, but I'm not able to reach it I can reach my network vi something.dnshome.de With a port forwarding 80 -> 80 in the network router I can reach the test page of the apache server. How can I reach the koha server -- regards Heinz

duplicate biblios

Dear all, As we have imported 26,ooo books into koha and I already had 4700 books entered manually . as I have added 0 in front of barcode with the 4700 books e.g (02412). when i imported 26000 books it didn't replace the existing records which has no 0 in front of barcode e.g (2400). Now when I check the catalog it shows many duplicates. which would be 26000 books + 4700 books + duplicate biblios. Now I don't know what to do????????? I have attached the screenshot... please help me ASAP.... With regards, Nalisha

Hi Alvaro, I think that you misunderstand the netstat output there. "tcp6 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN 1113/apache2" means that it's using a TCP socket that supports both IPv4 and IPv6. Heinz: 1. Remove the entries from /etc/hosts 2. Do "nslookup something.dnshome.de" 3. Confirm that the output of the above command matches your current home IP address 4. Ensure that your Apache configuration for the OPAC has either a ServerName or ServerAlias directive matching something.dnshome.de 5. Reload/restart Apache to be on the safe side 6. That should be it That said, I'd be careful exposing a test version of Koha to the Internet, especially if you're not familiar with Koha or Apache. Wrong Username Password Koha 19.11 web installer Ubuntu 18.0.4.3 ?

Hi, I'm having some trouble getting Koha up and running, I'm following the installation guide from https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages . I'm having problems with the username and password. I need to go through the final installation steps but I cannot log in - it says username and password are incorrect. I used the username and password in /etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml and used: sudo xmlstarlet sel -t -v 'yazgfs/config/pass' /etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml;echo Why is this password not accepted? Before this install I had to delete Koha and reinstall. I couldn't log in after I completed the final configuration steps where I created the new user and password. I got a Username Password incorrect when I know what I typed in. How can I log in to Koha? Do you think there is some form of corruption somewhere? I have had to delete Koha and reinstall a few times and maybe there is some mix up with the database or username password. Many thanks for the help !
