Hi, Do you know when Koha 2.0 will be available ? I used Koha 1.2.3 as test platform and my users are waiting for the French version. 1.9 release was not enough stable for me to put it vailable for my users. Trevor - I have a fairly basic question -- what do museums do with the information they have in the database. I went to the SPECTRUM website ( http://www.mda.org.uk/spectrum.htm ) and it looks like it's basically guidelines for describing the objects held by a museum. (I have no experience in museum work, so I may be missing something.) So I'm guessing that for you, Koha would be a way to store and retrieve information about the objects you've collected. Upcoming Trade Show

Hi.....here in Victoria (Australia) there will be a library conference for SLAV (School Library Association of Victoria) at which I will be haveing a 'trade show ' stand along with other library sullpiers in Victoria. I would like _ on behalf of the Koha group - to put up some form of poster advertising Koha etc, & also I have the opportunity (as do all other exhibitors) to place in each of the conference delegates satchels some advertising literature/pamphlets. Using MARC::Record to insert MARC data into MySQL tables

I hoping that within a couple of days we will have the item data for our collections loaded into the 945, 946, and 949 fields of our MARC records, and then we would like to run a Perl script which will go through each of our MARC records and extract and insert into the Koha MySQL tables biblio, biblioitems, and items all of the data needed to run version 1.9.0. Has anyone developed such a script at this point or give me an idea of what the commands would look like to accomplish this? Larry Currie -- Lawrence W. V1.9 - Librarian Log-In Problem

Two or three little things.

Dear people: I'm trying to test Koha 1.9 with the language set to spanish. I could configure in System Preferences the opaclanguages to 'es' but all the images rest in english (but the tooltips in spanish). When I try to set opacthemes and template to es all the enviroment is converted to english. I´ve seen that in somewhere exists the translated images, anybody could tell me how could I use it? More, at te OPAC all the system is presented in english and I don´t see any variable to convert it... Just one more thing, I could not configure TZ variable from Date::Manip in RedHat 7.3 (perl 5.6.1), I´m "uncommenting" DateManip.cnf TZ variable and PersonalCnf but no changes, I could not use the Add Member function (and suppose Circulation will not work too). Hi Nigel. Thanks so much for your intro to Koha. I will start to play around with Koha and instalation this night. A few questions comes to my mind. My wife has read your mail also, and she says that she saw somtime a system which was capable of reading the back cover ISBN or EAN Code trough a Barcode reader and feeding that way the Library Database. Is there a way to Download or access ISBN Database while entering the books in the System with Koha with a Barcode Reader? In case that it is not possible and we have to do it the old and hard way typing one by one each book into the system, (2000 books more or less) You said that multiple Web Browsers can access the "Acquisition" menu and so enter new books using more people for the purpose. what happened if accidentally someone entered an information twice? (sure there could be 2 copies of the same book or more in the library) Could she use the program you mentioned "Glabels" for creating a Library Identity card for every kid? Dewey and Item Type

Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone could tell me what Dewey maps to in MARC? Scoured SimpleMarc.pm and came up with 082. Also the item type drop down field on the Koha test drive site, what's the MARC mapping for that??? or do you choose it when you go on to submit the record? If this is true where do you set up item types? just enter them into the db? or is there a gui? or are they pre determined like marc codes for em??? Thanks in advance, Adam Thick.

z39.50 targets in France

Sorry, sent this the first time from the wrong address. Hope you don't get it twice. Does anyone have any good z39.50 targets in France. At least half our library are books published in France and entering then in manually is getting tedious. I've found that the National Library of Scotland runs an excellent target for books published in the UK, and the Library of Congress target is good for many technical books, but I can't get a response out of any of the targets I've tried in France. Any help would be appreciated. Best regards Nigel
