Instalando Koha en Windows me di cuenta que el instalador busca el servidor apache en "Program Files\... Como yo lo probe en Windows XP en español tuve que copiar el archivo de configuracion que viene con koha en el folder correcto en "C:\Archivos de Programa" y editar algunos "paths" en el archivo de configucacion de Apache que apuntaban a "C:\program files..." Me tomo menos de un minuto hacerlo, es demasiado facil con este instalador y siguiendo las recomendaciones acerca de las versiones de Perl, MySql, etc. hechas por el autor. Este pequeñisimo detalle (detectar el folder de programas) es lo unico que le falta para ser perfecto para gentes sin ninguna experiencia instalando servidores. Felicidades otra vez para el autor del paquete para Windows. P.D. Este mensaje no es una queja. Quise escribirlo para que mas usuarios sin experiencia se animen a instalar Koha. I found the cause of the problem by running the script in the shell. I could no longer connect to the MySQL database server since I had changed the name of the database user. Now the problem is fixed. This raises a couple of issues: 1. Why is the admin login username (to the Intranet) the same as the database username? The two should be separate, esp. for security reasons. 2. When the script that fails runs in the shell, I can clearly see the error: perl ./intranet/cgi-bin/mainpage.pl DBI connect('eesv2pre5:localhost','kohaadmin',...) failed: Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'%' to database'Koha' at /usr/local/koha/intranet/modules/C4/Context.pm line 411 Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at /usr/local/koha/intranet/modules/C4/Koha.pm line 388. Surely the same error message should be sent to the Apache log, rather than "premature end of script headers". I think the problem lies in the way Perl is being used. If Koha used mod_perl instead, this problem would not occur, since mod_perl can do things like ensure you have a valid database connection during Apache initialisation -- if there is a problem, mod_perl can be configured to abort the Apache startup. This would be a Good Thing (tm). Another Good Thing is mod_perl will run the scripts 100 x faster! A way to avoid the cryptic "Premature end of script headers" in scripts is to use the exception handling facility of Perl. For programmers only: each script is in an eval { } block and any errors caught, the HTTP headers output and then the error raised properly with Apache. I've been using this approach for years in LAMP apps -- works a treat, and no moer tears ;) My concern the the inordinate waste of hundreds of Koha users/installers time with the cryptic error message which can easily be ameliorated by a few programming tweaks. (This error is constantly being raised on the Koha user's mailing list) We can further discuss this on the koha-devel list if you wish. I am running Koha/2.2.7 on LAMP. One of the scripts is causing a 500 error. Z3950 parameters

I'm setting up a new installation of 2.2.7 and am following the guide here: http://www.kohadocs.org/usersguide/ch01s01.html Several new parameters seem to have been added since that document was last revised. I wonder what the function of z3950AuthorAuthFields and z3950NormalizeAuthor is? Can anyone explain these? --Jason

Problem in running "bulkmarcimport.pl" script

Hi Rob, I am experimenting with koha on windows as a personal project. I was wondering if you had any resolution to the bulkmarcimport.pl problem. I would be willing to be a tester for you if needed. I don't want to monopolize your time so I am still digging on several other problems (z39.50 500 error, no remote access to intranet even with the host file entries and how to implement LC Call numbers). I am running your most current configuration on windows 2003 server. I am also offering to provide complete step by step illustrated documentation based on your docs and the other docs on the koha site for a basic windows install if that would be wanted. Follet to Koha conversion

I am planning on moving our library from Follett over to Koha this summer. Follett stores the records as marc21/852. I can output them to a Microlif file, I am not sure if this matters. Can I read the database with a tool and directly convert it? Do I need to output it to a special file to then upload it with a special tool?

Hi Pedro, I recall that I've encounter the same problem using npl theme, koha ver 2.2.4. I have solve this problem by migrating to koha 2.2.5. I hope this info can help. (But in my case, I do not run rebuildnonmarc.pl). Hi folks, I'm happy to announce today that the Koha project has launched a new tool to streamline the user contribution process. Meet contribs.koha.org, our new Extensions Manager. Our goal with this tool is to lower the learning curve and overhead for contributing add-on components to Koha. We know many of you have created some nifty additions to Koha (fresh redesign of the templates, some command-line utilities, migration scripts, an icon set, a new MARC framework) but aren't keen on learning CVS or sending off an email to the dev list every time you change something minor. If that describes you, the new Extensions Manager will allow you to distribute your Koha extension using a simple web-based interface. So ... how to get started? 1. Create an archive (zip file ) of your extension with any documentation and license information included. 2. Create an account on contribs.koha.org. Click on the 'Login' link and then 'Register' to get an account. 3. Log in and then click 'Add' to add your extension. 4. Give your extension a meaningful name and description and assign it to the appropriate categories (if you need a new catagory to be added, send an email to the koha-devel list and we'll add it). 5. Specify which versions of Koha your extension works with. 6. After you upload, send an email to the Koha developer's list announcing your extension and describing what it does. 7. When you change your extension, update it on contribs.koha.org If you have any questions or have trouble with the system send an email to the list and we'll try to get it sorted out. Hi everyone, The Koha project is working to improve Koha's visibility by adding Koha users to an important automation list. This list is maintained by Marshall Breeding (U.S. researcher), and tracks libraries worldwide and what ILS they are using. Marshall puts out a library technology guide every year (this year's is upcoming) which is very influential in helping libraries select an automation system. Traditionally, Koha has not been included in his guide, and we are trying to change that this year :) In fact, Marshall has specifically invited Koha users to include themselves in the guide, to ensure open-source automation gets the recognition it deserves. We've been encouraging Koha users to add information about themselves to the site, and adding libraries ourselves as we come across them. If your library is using Koha, make sure you are counted! Intranet module cannot be accessed in the network

Dear All, I've installed Koha 2.2.7. Now the probem is that when I'm trying to access the INTRANET module through network, it is giving error. But I can easily access the OPAC module. When giving "http://192.168.128.80/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl" it is working fine. But when giving "http://192.168.128.80/cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl" OR "http://192.168.128.80/intranet/cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl" it is giving the error - Object not found! The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
