Koha 3 Beta: Itemtype icons won't display in OPAC

Character problems

I've been trying to import some records to Koha 2.2.9 system (both with Koha's internal breeding.pl tool and bulkmarcimport.pl), but I can't seem to get all the UTF-8 characters to work right. While breeding.pl seems to break nearly all the special characters, bulkmarcimport.pl does a much better job. There are however some problematic characters with bulkmarcimport.pl also. For example a with umlauts (ä) works, but followed by n (än) it becomes a mess, very strange... I've been thinking about doing a database-wide search-replace to fix the broken characters, but how should I proceed with that? Is it a very good idea in the first place or is there a better way to fix the characters? Thanks! -Pasi-

gcannot extract koha download using gunzip

Hi everybody I installing koha 2.2.9 but i am getting error when trying to extract the file using gunzip. I have used the following command to extracting the files # tar -xvf koha-2.2.9.tar.gz but this is what iam getting gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file tar: Unexpected EOF in archive tar: Unexpected EOF in archive tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now. can somebody tell me what i am not getting right and how to go about it.

Newbie question - importing data

Hi, I have library data in a sql 2000 database that was the backend for an InMagic application. Has anyone done an import of data from a sql database into Koha? I found an article called 'Migrating to Koha ver.2.0.0" by Stephen Hedges. He mentions that you have to get the records into ISO 2709 format. We are no longer using InMagic so I don't know if they would have tool to help do that so I'm left with going from sql 2000 to Koha. We also don't have anything with MARC (not a librarian so please excuse if I stated that sentence incorrectly). I'm the dba who has been tasked with getting data from the sql 2000 database into Koha. I'm not familiar with ISO 2709 either. Any help in getting started would be greatly appreciated. Is it even possible? Thanks! Luanne

Updating Koha?

(Gentoo Linux 2.6.24, MySQL 5.0.56) Hi, All. About a week or so ago, I grabbed the latest snapshot of Koha (by going to http://git.koha.org/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=Koha;a=summary , and clicking the small 'Snapshot" link on the row with the most recently committed change. That seemed to work pretty well - I installed the new Koha snapshot, applied some changes of my own to the codebase, and started using it. Now, looking at the changes that have been posted on GIT, I'm thinking I might like to get an even NEWER snapshot. With the customizations I've done, though, I don't really look forward to having to ownload and install a new snapshot in its entirety. Is there a way with the GIT website to tell it to package me up a new site that contains only those files that are newer than (say) 3/31/2008? If that can be done, I might be able to upgrade my Koha simply by dropping in the changed files into the appropriate directory. Playing nice with IE

Hello. Some of you may have already tackled this problem and I'm hoping someone has a solution. Why is Koha not playing nice with IE? When I'm looking at the various record formats, the rendering is way off for some in IE, but not Firefox. Do I need to study up more on CSS to fix this problem? Thanx. Install failed (access denied) creating MySQL database

I have a Fedora Core 5 box, MySQL 5.0.27 and Koha 2.2.9. During the creating database stage of the install I get a failure with: ERROR 1045 (28000):Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) Some of the searches I come accross suggest that there is a problem with Koha 2.2 and mySQL 5. Is this the case or it there some other setup problem? Anyone out there using this combo and if so how did you get it installed? Or do I have to uninstall mySQL 5 and go back to 4. Any write ups on how to do this? Column 'bibid' cannot be null - koha2marc.pl -d

Hi all, We have upgraded from version 1.2.2 to version 2.2.9. We are having issues trying to get a good marc database of our biblio records. When in version 2.2.9 we run koha2marc.pl -d we get "Column 'bibid' cannot be null" for all records. We then have to go back to an older version, and build it from there. After doing this we don't get great results. For example we only had 2 "245" title records so searching by title doesn't work unless you use one of those titles. Any guidance on how to build a marc database with our biblio information would be greatly appreciated.
