Could we please take the argument off-list now? While I understand the points on both sides, I think arguing this way is self-destructive for all sides. I think LinuxBox may be embarassed enough that the PDF files were not structured correctly. And they probably feel bad for not using PDFCreator or some such instead of commercial software. However, this argument is quickly devolving and I don't think the 'points' being made have much to do with Koha and where we are going as a group. Certainly are not contributing in any positive way to the group. As for the listing on the Support page, perhaps LinuxBox was overlooked for listing and the page should be amended? -- *************************************** Lenora A. Customising Patron Records

We have installed Koha 2.2.9 on Windows XP and intend using it for a university library situation. We would like to change the configuration of the patron record so that the Alternate Contacts section is able to be used for student name, Academic department and id number. We would also like these fields to be searchable. Is this possible? Need help for koha on windows

I have installed koha version 2.2.9 on windows xp. It is working properly. *PROBLEMS* 1) But I m getting a problem while issuing. I have set in the issuing rule in koha administrator for a particular group of patron as "21,2"(21 days, 2 books), but when i am issuing books, then it is taking books more than 2. [To IndexData Net-z3950 readers my apologies for cross-posting] Dear Subscribers, (While not a Koha issue per se I am posting to this list as the issue I am facing often seems to crop up during Koha installs.) Before installing koha-3.00.00-beta under Solaris 10 I have been trying to compile Net-Z3950-ZOOM-1.21. Unfortunately -- while all of the other Perl Modules have installed without issue -- I am unable to get ZOOM to pass the test suite. I have searched the net and found that a good number of people experience similar trouble. Still, after following all the various suggestions given I am no closer to a clean compile. I have now installed and kidding around using Koha on Ubuntu HP ML G5 Server to setup Library Information System for Our University, Hawassa University, Ethiopia. My question is How to add a new Librarian(Cataloguer, Circulation workers, counters, etc) and give access privileges to them accordingly? Jim (and Andrew) -- Thanks for the clarification. This is very interesting news indeed! In current form, GAE would not be suitable for an ILS like Koha (even if we magically ported it to python), because of limitations on the data structure. Specifically, "Note that the App Engine datastore is not a relational database": http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/whatisgoogleappengine.html It may be possible to reimagine MARC, circ, holding and patron data under the "datastore" model, but this seems like a serious impediment for now. I suspect Google will expand the breadth of service options once the basic Engine is established and popularized, so maybe mysql will become available later (perhaps w/ additional cost). A "Google App Engine" based ILS probably would require a distinct project and developer community. I actually think a pure python port of Koha would be virtually impossible to achieve, based on the large number of underlying dependencies that would also have to be ported. It would take so long to accomplish that it would not be valuable (let alone current) by the time it was finished. Google Apps

All, Now that Google Apps has appeared (just!), does anybody see any Koha-type applications? Right now, everything on Google Apps must be in python, but could local libraries run their Koha catalogs on Google, thereby saving themselves a lot of bother? Issues with newer versions of Zebra

We have a development box running Koha 3.0 beta2. One of the issues I am having is with versions of Zebra 2.0.26 and higher. As soon as I upgrade to the newest version the search stops working. No matter what we search for, it can't be found. As soon as I roll back to 2.0.24 search works again. I have upgraded yaz and even installed yaz-icu. Any ideas?
