It's certainly possible to install Koha on AlmaLinux, but it will probably be a challenging experience, as the main community supported installation is using Debian packages on Debian/Ubuntu. In the past, I used to run a customized version of Koha on OpenSUSE using RPM packages. That made code deployments much easier. My spec file wouldn't be directly usable, but I could provide some advice, if you went down that route. For Perl dependencies, as Tomas says, you'd want to use the cpanfile. (https://metacpan.org/dist/Module-CPANfile/view/lib/cpanfile.pod and https://metacpan.org/pod/cpanm) Docker could be an option, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you're already familiar with using Docker. Your main challenges with AlmaLinux would probably be installing the Perl dependencies, configuring Apache, setting up cronjobs, and setting up services (Zebra indexer, Zebra search server, Plack application server). You get all of that for free with the Debian packages, but have to do it manually with other installation methods. Adding recent (current/past year) statistics to the items table

Hi All, We have had several requests recently for an easy way to access current/last year's circulation stats for items, without having to create reports totalling these numbers. The numbers here are used for weeding, state reporting, etc. Other systems have fields: 'Year to date circ' and 'last year circ' We have discussed several possible developments: - a new table to track these - adding a new field, or altering 'issues' to use JSON and storing circ/renewal counts by year - adding two new fields to the items table and use a cronjob to move 'current year' circ to 'last years circ' at the end of the year. We wanted to check in with the community to see if this is a request that others have or have seen, and how they handle these. Thanks for any info. Dear Michael, Thanks a lot for the detailed response.You are right, the staff can be instructed. Also anomalies can be identified through reports. Another thing, I am confused in two global system parameters. If I set, CircControl to "the item the library is from" which would be the home branch or permanent library and HomeOrHoldingBranch to "Holding Branch", wouldn't that create conflict. And Independent Branches is the only way to restrict the Set Library option. 5XX Fields Paired with 880 Fields

Hi, all! I have observed that the 880 alternate graphical representation field that is paired with a 5XX field is not always displayed in Koha. Example: 504 \\$aComputer document (3.1 MB). Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). コンピューター文書 (3.1 MB). 504 \\$6880-54$aKonpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). 880 \\$6880-54$aコンピューター文書 (3.1 MB). In order to make everything appear, I've had to combine the 5XX fields with their paired 880 field into one. Taking the above for an example, we have to recode the above with something like 504 \\$aComputer document (3.1 MB). Konpyuta bunsho (3.1 MB). コンピューター文書 (3.1 MB). How to show MARC 952$c in the Koha OPAC

Hi In our library we are using Koha 21.11.02. We want to show the content of MARC 952$c (shelving location code) in the OPAC. The content of MARC 952$c is only shown if MARC 952$c is linked to category of authorized values "LOC". In this case the content of MARC 952$c is shown in the item data field "current library" in both OPAC and staff client. In our library MARC 952$c is not linked to a category of authorized values and the content of MARC 952$c is only shown in the staff client, but not in the OPAC. plack with koha soruce package

Hello Friends, I am a library professional and have been using Koha in my library for the last 2 years. I have Koha 20.05.05 installed on Ubuntu 20.04. I have installed Koha using source tar package and not using koha-common installation. I have studied various koha articles to use in Koha to boost speed. But in all articles, enabling plack steps given only for koha-common installation only, using koha-plack command. In my case, I have installed Koha using tar source package, so no such commands were found. Can Anyone guide me how to enable the plack package for Koha tar source package installation. Identifying -intra username and password to configure library

I am at http://[intra hostname]/cgi-bin/koha/installer/install.pl, and am trying to identify the username and password to log in. koha-passwd library gives one password but does not specify the username, and /etc/koha/sites/library/koha-conf.xml gives another password and a username of "kohauser". Obvious permutations based on either have not let me log in. What username should I be entered for a library with the uninspired name "library", and how should I be obtaining the password for that username? Thanks, Br. C.S.
