Circulation function
by zareena 11 Aug '08

11 Aug '08

Hi all, I am currently testing KOHA system in wwf-malaysia llibrary. I realized that the circulation function required a barcode number if I want to proceed with the process. Is there any other way that I can do to proceed with this function without having a barcode? Thanks, Zareena -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Circulation-function-tp18918912p18918912.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Dear All "Delhi Public Library is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tourism & Culture and governed by Delhi Library Board, fully financed by the Government of India. Delhi Public Library was started as a UNESCO project in the year 1951 by the Govt. of India. It was inaugurated by first Prime Minister of India Hon'ble Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, started as small unitary library in old Delhi, Opp. Old Delhi Railway Station. It has since developed into a premier Public Library System in the metropolitan city of Delhi" This is the excerpt from the welcome message given on the home page of Delhi Public Library (http://www.dpl.gov.in) I would like to share with you all that this historic library having more than* 2 Million books/bibliographic material* in Indian and English Language is now online using Koha. Catalogue can be accessed at: http://www.openlx.in:8080 It is the real implementation of Koha 3 without any paid support (I think first in South Asia, plz correct me someone if I am wrong). I congratulate Mr. Amit and Mr. Sudhir on this achievement. Note: Amit is trying to install Koha 3 Stable Release today, Amit! keep it up.. Regards, Ata ur Rehman LISolutions.org

Re: [Koha] Call numbers

Saturday, August 9, 2008 20:30 CDT Hi, Kate, Just as a brief addendum to Joshua's proper answer, there is another work-around possible if you and your team aren't up to the Perl and Javascript'ing that the experts would use: you could use a free tool like MARCEdit which has rather simple 'script' functions to import your records, construct barcode numbers, and then re-export them. The Help info with the program is actually nicely complete, but just briefly now, IIRC, (and assuming that you can discriminate easily between the FICT records and ones with other kinds of call numbers), you should be able to read and copy info from a subfield like $100a, truncate (to 3 or 4), and append that to the field of your choosing for call number. I hope that quick explanation makes some sense and gives you another option. In the meanwhile, welcome to the Koha community and good luck with your library going live! Cheers, Steven F. You could create a plugin to do this based on something like your itemtype or something, and link it to the itemcallnumber field. This would require a bit of Perl and JavaScript coding, but it's pretty low barrier to entry. Call numbers
by Kate Blair Elliott 09 Aug '08

This might be an obvious question, but we are in the process of installing Koha 3.0 but won't be going live with it for several months now. We are small library and still have to automate our system and scan, create marc records, and barcode all of our books. Since these books are all already labeled I was hoping there was a way that Koha could be set to automatically generate call numbers based on our specifications (for example FICT for fiction plus the first 3 letters of the authors last name). Is there a way to do this or do we have to manually go in and change each record to reflect how we want to call number to be displayed. This makes a big difference on the time it will take to catalog each item so we are trying to figure it out now during our planning process. Hope that was clear, Thanks, Kate

Item status display wrong
by John Houser 08 Aug '08

08 Aug '08

Hi folks, I'm testing a new Koha 3.0 installation downloaded with git from the repository. I've got most things working now, but there is one major problem. The initial search results in both the OPAC and Staff Client show "No items" for all records. But when I look at the full record in either client, I see the items that I've created. What do I need to do to get the item status indexed and showing up in search results? If I've missed something in the documentation, please feel free to point me to it. Thanks for any help. Errors occured during updating koha 22 to 30
by Bobby703 08 Aug '08

08 Aug '08

Hi all. I am on the way to koha 3.0 from 2.2. I followed the online instruction of Upgrading from Koha 2.2 to Koha 3.0. I tried to update the database which I really care about and I ran the following scripts installer/data/mysql/update22to30.pl DROP TABLE `auth_word` , `marc_word` ; installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl misc/migration_tools/22_to_30/move_marc_to_biblioitems.pl misc/migration_tools/22_to_30/move_marc_to_authheader.pl misc/migration_tools/22_to_30/rebuild_unimarc_100.pl They works fine, no serious errors. Some other errors are fixed by myself. However, when I ran misc/migration_tools/22_to_30/missing090field.pl. There was one error in my error log Tag "" is not a valid tag. at missing090field.pl line 50 I checked the script and it seems to call GetMarcFromKohaField function and does something with marc_subfield_structure table. I checked the table and only found one record in the table. Then I check the old database for koha 2.0 and found lots of records in the table although the table structure is a little bit different from current one. Did I miss records in marc_subfield_structure? What is causing this error and how can I fix that? Many thanks in advance. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Errors-occured-during-updating-koha-22-to-30-tp188869… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

After I updated koha form 2.0 to 2.2.2, the marc_word table was empty. How to fix that so that I can get records in the old database. Thanks. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/marc_word-table-tp18798161p18798161.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
