Dear Amy, >A couple of weeks I reported to the list that I >am having trouble linking my bibs and authority >records in Koha v. 310001005. (2) any tips on how to do it? to connect the bibs to authorities you must to have the id of the authority record in the subfield 9 of every heading in the bibs records. For example: exp of a bib record (MARC21) =100 1\$aFitzgerald, Ron$921 =245 10$aYear book of medicine the connect auth record (MARC21) =001 21 =100 1\$aFitzgerald, Ron$d1889-1953 The script 'link_bibs_to_authorities.pl' use the API C4:Biblio:LinkBibHeadingsToAuthorities retrive the headings in the bib record and try to find them in the authorities with a search. If the result of the serch is 1, it insert the subfield $9 with the id the bib record. If you want a best result, you need to re-implement link_bibs_to_authorities.pl with a better matching algorithm The problems that you report are problems of enviroment. The suggestion to export PERL5LIB, like: sudo KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib /path/to/<http://link_bibs_to_authorities.pl/>link_bibs_to_authorities.pl (adjusting paths accordingly) is correct but probably not enough. Try to call a Linux expert to watch your linux box (send to him/her those messages). I'm helping this museum voluntarily starting this month. I'm glad too to have a friend that come form same country using Koha.. =) > Does the configuration files for phpmyadmin still exists in the directory > /etc/apache2/vhost.d/ ? > If there is any possible conflict with the other configuration (usually if > there are two or more virtualhost that uses the same port then reads the > earliest used). It definately yes. I unfortunately did not recognize that Koha took over "ipaddress:80" to /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs (rewrite module, in /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/ip-based_vhosts.conf /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/koha-httpd.conf configuration file ) so every url (ipaddress:80) would be based on that path. I also remembered that I installed Koha in /usr/share directory, (not other directory) because I have other web-based applications in the server. And then I could not access my ipaddress:80/phpMyAdmin (because phpMyAdmin is not in /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs directory) . The (temporary) work-arround is to change the default port (80) of the OPAC-Koha Sever to another port-number, so I can access other web-based application in the server through default apache-port number. Is it known issue? Apology, Is it bug or not? Thanks in advance. Best regards, -- Andi Sugandi, openSUSE-Id Team, openSUSE Ambassador Bandung, Indonesia

SIP2 for 3M smart chute
by vtl＠scls.lib.wi.us 25 May '10

25 May '10

SCLS uses ITG for self check and RFID. Some of our libraries are planning on implementing automated materials handling (sorters). We are trying to figure out it we need further development in order for Koha to work with a sorter. I've identified the following bug which addresses issues with the 3M smart chute : http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3435 This was an enhancement submitted by NEKLS. I'm looking for information from NEKLS and anyone as to whether or not the SIP2 necessary for AMH is or will be in Koha. I have found the following which does show what is there now: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.0/appendices/sip2-integration I know that not all SIP packets necessary for AMH are listed there. koha bibs & authorities problem
by Amy Schuler 24 May '10

24 May '10

Hello, A couple of weeks I reported to the list that I am having trouble linking my bibs and authority records in Koha v. 310001005. I found mention in the listserv archive of the link_bibs_to_authorities.pl utility. I tried running this and received an error, "Can't locate object method "new_from_bib_field" via package "C4::Heading" (perhaps you forgot to load "C4::Heading"?) at /etc/perl/C4/Biblio.pm line 443." Someone on the listserv suggested that I need to export PERL5LIB, like this: sudo KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib /path/to/link_bibs_to_authorities.pl<http://link_bibs_to_authorities.pl/> (adjusting paths accordingly) We exported thus, and still receive an error message: koha@Koha3:/$ sudo KOHA_CONF=/home/koha/koha-dev/etc/koha-conf.xml PERL5LIB=/home/koha/kohaclone /home/koha/kohaclone/misc/link_bibs_to_authorities.pl Can't locate object method "new_from_bib_field" via package "C4::Heading" (perhaps you forgot to load "C4::Heading"?) at /home/koha/kohaclone/C4/Biblio.pm line 443. So my questions remain: (1) can anyone tell me definitively if there is any way to connect the bibs to authorities? (and if not - why does the link_bibs utility exist??) (2) any tips on how to do it? cleanup_database.pl
by Christopher Curry 24 May '10

24 May '10

Hello all, I'm having trouble getting the cleanup_database.pl script to automate. I logged in as koha and typed crontab -e, saved and was informed that a new crontab had been installed. I ran the script manually as koha and it worked perfectly. Here is my crontab: "0 3 * * 2-6 perl /usr/local/src/kohaclone/misc/cronjobs/cleanup_database.pl -v --sessions --zebraqueue 10 >>/var/log/koha/cleanup_database.log" Here is my syslog: "May 19 03:00:01 eucalyptus /USR/SBIN/CRON[15240]: (koha) CMD (perl /usr/local/src/kohaclone/misc/cronjobs/cleanup_database.pl -v --sessions --zebraqueue 10 >>/var/log/koha/cleanup_database.log)" /var/log/koha/cleanup_database.log doesn't get amended. Any obvious issues with my configuration? Any ideas how I can make this work? -- Cheers, Christopher Curry Assistant Technical Librarian / Assistant IT Officer American Philosophical Society 105 South Fifth Street Philadelphia, PA 19106-3386 Tel. Follett migration
by Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz 24 May '10

24 May '10

Randy, I'm hoping to move a small school library from Follett to Koha on a Fedora 12 system. The responses to the thread so far are enlightening. I've gotten pretty far from just lurking and searching the archives and various install docs and wikis. Along the way I have learned quite a lot of about sed and perl to adapt a Follett export to an xml file of the biblio data to Koha. I'm almost there but running into problems doing a bulk adding of items. I don't think I quite have the required framework fully understood. This http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=here helped me get started. I hope to work on the Zebra search capacity. I'm running into problems getting it to run as a daemon. Fedora implements daemons a bit different from Debian and that is a new level I have to understand. I've installed MARCedit under wine, but haven't really been able to devote time to effectively using that to migrate our data. I will look into the Follett ODBC drivers that were suggested since I am very familiar with Access and that will help me work with the circulation and patron info. I'm a self-taught linux guy, learned mainly by doing and installing a Linux Terminal Server Project system at a small private school. This http://www.kohadocs.org/koha_diary.html really helped me understand the whole process of implementing an ILS and gave me courage to stark checking it out with the goal to free us from a yearly contract and an outmoded system. My next step is to begin a brand new install on a Debian system and use git to keep current. I hope to document this step by step. Lastly, I'm still trying to get a picture of the meta-issues/conflicts of the Koha project as represented by the koha.org and koha-community.org split. Good luck. Marion J. Hi Luis Can you please check the apache2 error log. That will have the error information, my guess is it can't connect to the database. [Koha-devel] The Great Bugzilla move
by Chris Cormack 23 May '10

23 May '10

I notice that it has been re-enabled now, and my admin access revoked. I also note the old wiki has had the link to the new wiki removed, and my account there has been deleted. So just to avoid confusion, http://bugs.koha-community.org is the bugzilla that I will be using as elected release manager for the 3.4 release. I will of course be making use of the other .koha-comunity.org sites too. If anyone would like a shell account on the machine running download or bugs please let me know. I will be writing a tutorial on how you can now interact with the new bugzilla using email. And will post that on http://wiki.koha-community.org Thanks Chris On 21 May 2010 15:27, Chris Cormack <chris(a)bigballofwax.co.nz> wrote: > On 21 May 2010 14:50, mason(a)KohaAloha.com <mason(a)kohaaloha.com> wrote: >> >> On 2010-05-21, at 2:32 PM, Rick Welykochy wrote: >> >>> Chris Cormack wrote: >>> >>>> http://bugs.koha-community.org is live. Solved: Switching from non-zebra to zebra

I tried both of the suggestions - and can HAPPILY report that the first, to use -x seems to have solved the problem. Thanks so much for all your help, Marty & Dave! Switching from non-zebra to zebra
by Amber Bole 22 May '10

22 May '10

Hi there - I've inherited a mid-size volunteer run genealogy library server running koha 3.0. There are approx 9000 books, and people are starting to complain about non-zebra. I would like to switch over to zebra, but whenever I try to run the rebuild_zebra.pl script, I get the warning: [warn] Record didn't contain match fields in (bib1, Local-number) (and then it stops) I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this warning/error. If it is just a warning, why does it stop at that point? If it's an error, can someone give me an idea where to start looking for what it means? Thanks in advance, Amber
