Call for Papers The 2011 Koha Conference committee is requesting proposals for papers and presentations. Presentations should cover topics of interest to current and future users of Koha. The conference is expected to have a wide variety of attendees, including - Library administrators - Librarians - Programmers and system administrators Presentations should be approximately 45 minutes in length and allow time for questions. Presenters can expect to have Interest access and a computer projector for slides and, if necessary, a laptop computer with standard presentation software. When submitting your proposal, please include - The name and institutional affiliation of each presenter - Contact information, particularly email address - The target audience for your presentation (e.g. introductory, technical, administrative, etc.) - The proposed title of your presentation - A brief description suitable for publishing in the conference program. Descriptions should be no longer than 250 words. Author Guidelines The process for submission is Abstract followed by proposal (2 rounds of review required; first for abstract, second for proposal) Please try to submit your papers as early as possible. *The deadline for submissions is 15th August 2011.* Start here to submit a paper to this conference. Is KOHA suitable for Digital Library?

I am new to KOHA ILS Solution, Can any body guide me that whether or not to use the KOHA ILS in place of digital library requirements? To what extend can KOHA cater to manage digital contents (PDF and TIFF and etc)? Recovering from corrupt innodb tables

Hi all, Just got done pulling off a (very) minor miracle, but thought I'd document it in the hopes that someone else in the same boat finds it useful. We've been having performance problems for over a week, and I finally got around to checking the correct logs, and discovered that we had a corrupt page in one of those lesser used koha tables, something called biblio :-/ Of course, since I'd let it slide for over a week, bringing biblio back from backup would have meant lots of re-work for any cataloging done since the corruption began. Because of the corrupt page, whenever a request was made against that particular page, the mysql database would restart, dropping the connections and causing general chaos. And thanks to google's robot, that corrupt page was getting hit pretty regularly as it turns out. Some googling gave me an idea of how to retrieve what I could from the table (think binary search), finding the edges of the corrupt page. I ended up being able to recover all of the biblio records from 1-30227, and from 30313-91859, leaving a gap of 85 missing biblios. I could have made our library technician (hi Katie) rebuild those records by hand, but biblioitems has all of the required information stored in the marcxml field. Is this the correct way to upgrade koha

Hi All, I the past, whenever we wanted to upgrade koha, we would copy the database of the version that we want to upgrade. Then erase Koha completely off the system, then install the new version from scratch. When this is finished, we would replace the existing database and koha would run an update. My question: 1. Is this the best way to upgrade koha? 2. If I have fresh koha installed on a system, and all my configurations, patron data including issues and bibliographic data is located on another. Is there any other way how I can get all that information (including checkouts, fines etc.) without copying the database and replacing it on fresh installation of koha. Hi there. I have a question about the Koha serials. I now that a serial/periodical is a bibliographic record. But one issues/number of one serial is saved in which table of Koha database? They are itens for the biblio record? I'm answering this questions because I have a problem migrating the serials from BiblioBase (which is a library management system software). The serials in BiblioBase are exported in two files: - one xml with biblio records (serials record) which i've already converted to marcxml and imported to Koha - one ISO with the issues/numbers of those serials I need to import the ISO. Did anybody worked with BiblioBase and done this? If one issue/numer is one item of the biblio record maybe i can do a parser to the ISO file. Thanks in advance. Regards. Vitor Fernandes

configuring postfix and koha to send email

Using koha 3.2 on ubuntu 10.10 and set up postfix to send late book emails from koha. Can send email directly from postfix or from root but not from koha. Are there edits that have to be made to koha files to make it work with postfix? Have tried testing by making new accounts and asking koha to send new account messages but get errors listed below... KOHA & Digital Library Integration

Dear Sir, Thank you for your input on the forum. I want to know how do you integrate the two difference repositories (KOHA Catalogues which is MARC21 Compliance & DSPACE Catalogue which is Dublin Core Compliance), What is synchronization method of the meta data and other Administrative (User/Patron Records) data between the system. Does KOHA & DSPACE are installed & implemented separately? I have the same requirements of ILS & DL system but I dont know how it works together? Thank you Regards, Ateeq

what barcode system to use

Dear all, We have decided upon ordering barcodes to mark our books. Do you have suggestions as to where the best deals can be found for custom barcodes as well as what system of barcodes to use? I found a supplier ("The Library Store") which offers code 39 codabar follett style "interleaved 2 of 5" mod-43 mod-10 as we don't have any previous barcodes to deal with, could you suggest me what works well (and more or less why?) thanks!
