I'm not sure where you are storing your session data, but this might be worth a shot. Kind Regards, Chris

MyISAM vs InnoDB
by Tom Hanstra 27 Feb '12

27 Feb '12

I found a bit of information in the list archives but nothing very complete. What I'm curious about is the history of database storage as InnoDB vs. MyISAM in the MySQL database. It looks as if early versions of Koha were MyISAM but things switched to InnoDB at some point. Can someone give me a bit of the history of what made that change and why InnoDB is the desired storage method at this point. What functionality might be lost if I switched my local storage to MyISAM? Adding web pages to Koha
by Brenner, Martin 27 Feb '12

27 Feb '12

Hi everyone, We just recently set up Koha 3.0.5 and we have it working the way we want it to. It is great. Now, I would like to add some web pages that have the same look and feel and maybe even some of the main OPAC functionality, but have different content. For instance, I would like another page that gives the links to the databases we have subscriptions to. (We currently have those in the "OpacMainUserBlock," but I'd like to use that real estate a different way if we could.) Ideally, I would love to have some other pages that our teachers could create for their research projects and even add discussion boards and other things similar to Moodle. (I fully realize this is a bit of a dream, and that I would have to install more software for some of the functionality.) I think I need to know more about CSS to get what I'm thinking about. Does anyone know a good walkthrough for something like this in Koha or even a good CSS tutorial in order to acomplish this type of stuff? Thanks for any time anyone is willing to give, Martin Martin Brenner Head Librarian Whitfield School St. Louis MO 63141 USA

Re: [Koha] How to include 952$x in a report
by Paul 25 Feb '12

25 Feb '12

Recently, I requested guidance on the inclusion of 952$x into a MySQL "Report". My thanks to all who responded. The results are a report for Tax Receipting purposes; I realize that this is specific to charities that receive donations of books from their sponsors, but it might prove adaptable to others wishing to follow book vendors ... I have uploaded it to the Wiki page, and it can be found at <http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library#Tax_Receipt> Many thanks - Paul

You probably do not need to edit the syntax in addbiblio.pl Questions: a) which version of Koha are you using? b) in Home --> Administration --> Z39.50 Client Targets have you set up any user names and passwords, if required, or are you just using the defaults? c) are you using a standard Koha MARC Bibliographic framework? d) are you using the default Koha Authority types (specifically PERSO_NAME)? e) in Home --> Cataloging --> Add MARC Record does a pop-up window appear if you click the Z39.50 button? If so, what happens if you try ISBN 9780151003402 and select only LOC? Do you see a "Waiting for Koha-admin" to the bottom left? You should obtain a single Marc record fairly fast. f) if you get this far, does the error appear when you click "Import"? If so, please review b), c) and d) above If I have misunderstood your question, please explain the details of what you are doing so that I can try and reproduce your problem. Paul

The thing I did was I checked a book out. Than marked it as lost through the edit item interface, and it applied the cost of the book to the patron account. I checked the book back in but no credit was issued. So I than checked the item back out, and put a lost fine in the account/fines detail section of the patron account. I than waived the amount, checked the item in, and the system issued a credit for the item, but since I had waived the fine the patron was owed a credit at that point. > > So I guess there is really no slick way to do this other than to mark the book as lost in the edit item interface. If the patron turns it back in it will issue a message telling you that it was lost. Than at that point I'd imagine the patron would want some sort of refund, so you should be able to get their card, or surname, or at the very least do a little research under the item barcode hyper-text link and get their account straightened out. > > Hope that helps, > > James Ghiorzi > Library Assistant II > San Benito County Free Library > 470 Fifth St. > Hollister, CA 95023 > (831) 636-4107 > > > ________________________________________ > From: koha-bounces(a)lists.katipo.co.nz [koha-bounces(a)lists.katipo.co.nz] On Behalf Of Lori Bowen Ayre [lori.ayre(a)galecia.com] > Sent: Friday, February 17, 2012 7:06 PM > To: Koha list > Subject: [Koha] items that are lost, fees assessed, and then found > > If a patron has lost an item and paid a fine. Upcoming Koha Events Marseille Hackfest by Paul Poulain 25 Koha developers will be gathering to work on improving Koha from 19-25 March in Marseille, France. There will be people from Croatia (2), Switzerland (1), Italy (1), Germany (1), USA (1), and France (19). Six of us are librarians; the rest are IT/developers. We plan to focus on these topics: a small group working on performance and persistence issues, trying to make Koha Plack/mod_perl compatible a small group working on database issues, trying to remove MySQL dependencies and incorporate business/database separation logic into Koha a small group working on user interface issues, trying to improve HTML, CSS, etc. a small group working on Solr integration (that will, hopefully, be submitted for October 2012 release) the rest of us working on what we could call a Global Bug Squashing Week–testing patches, etc. We still have space, so if you’d like to come, just email me. March General IRC Meeting The March general IRC meeting will be held on Wednesday, 21 March 2012. For more info, see http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/General_IRC_Meeting,_21_March_2012. KohaCon12 KohaCon12 will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, 5-7 June 2012. A hackfest will be held 9-11 June. This is a free conference for everyone interested in the Koha library system, which is Free and Open Source Software. There is no registration fee, but we will ask that attendees pre-register. Further calls, including calls for papers and registrations will be posted soon. Details (travel, hotels, agenda draft, etc) can be found linked from http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/KohaCon12_Summary. KohaCon12 is the fifth KohaCon, following last year’s successful conference in India which brought together users and developers worldwide. KohaCon12 will feature an international slate of speakers (both Koha users and active Koha contributors) conducting presentations and workshops on a diverse range of topics. Talks will cover a range of topics from general experiences of Koha through to technical information on the various modules. “We expect this event to have wide appeal,” said MJ Ray of host organisation and Koha support provider software.coop. “The conference is for both techies and non-techies. In addition to presentations on the technical side of Koha, the conference will be a demonstration of how users and developers around the world cooperate to improve Free and Open Source Software. software.coop is delighted to host KohaCon in Edinburgh in our tenth anniversary year and this UN International Year of Co-operatives.” “Koha conferences are always an informative and uplifting event, I have no doubt that this years conference in Edinburgh will be the best conference yet.” said Chris Cormack, one of the original authors of the Koha version 1.0.
