Acquisitions - seeing someone else's Basket
by Maxine Murphy 20 Sep '12

20 Sep '12

As a 'superlibrarian' I can see all Baskets that have been loaded by other staff. I have one staff member who helps me with acquisitions who can not see a Basket that I have generated via my logon. The staff member has all the (Acquisition) options ticked in her 'privileges'. Is there other option/s that also required ticks, so that she can see the Basket that I generated. Maxine Murphy

Incremental fine system in Koha
by Vimal Kumar V. 20 Sep '12

20 Sep '12

Dear Friends, In our library, move to Koha from SOUL ILS is in progress. Library staff alone are doing the migration process. We have no technical support from outside. We successfully transfered bibliographical details and patron details to Koha. One problem is with incremental fine system. Our fine system is that, first ten days .50 paise per day. After that Rs. 1 per day. Anybody made customization to run incremental fine system? Pls. share how it solved and help us to work out it. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. Browse by hierarchy - Links not working
by anjoze 20 Sep '12

20 Sep '12

Hi. I'm trying to set up the *Browse by hierarchy* on OPAC I have 2 problems: 1 - Links don't work For example, it shows: */classification 3/* (10 biblios) Than, when I click on /classification 3/ link, it says: No results found! 2 - The *Classification* names doesn’t show I've read http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Opac_browse_feature and, it says: /The browser feature will build a browsable view of your catalogue. It will, for example, tell you that your catalogue contains : 1353 biblios about “Science” 5624 biblios about “Geography” 9835 biblios about “Spirituality” / On my page it doesn’t show the name (ex: Science) but the corresponding number, like in my first problem above: Shows /"Classification 3"/ instead of /"3 SOCIAL SCIENCES"/ I know this is experimental and for French Dewey catalogue, but, can anyone please provide detailed instructions to set it up correctly and, if possible, in other systems different of French Dewey? Is there anyone with this feature working? Thank you, ----- Koha version: 3.08.04 - - José Anjos -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Browse-by-hierarchy-Links-not-working-tp5… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Question about getting information for statistical reports
by Diedre Conkling 20 Sep '12

20 Sep '12

I am assuming this is a good place to ask this question. We, Chinook Library Network, are pretty new to Koha and are still working on fully understand how to do some things using Koha. One area where we could use a little more help is in pulling out information for statistical reports. This question probably particularly applies to those in the U.S. Every year we need to fill out statistical reports for the state libraries and, ultimately, the IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Services). I am sure other libraries have had to do the same thing. From Koha we need to get information about how many items we have and how many patrons we have. We also need to know the circulation for the year. The items are broken out in categories like adult books, dvd's, etc. and children's books, dvd's, etc. Can those of you who have done this give us some clues on the best ways to pull together this information? We need the information for each library in our network. We do not need it for the network as a whole. This year we are only looking at a few weeks of information so it is not a major issue. The rest of our statistics we already pulled off of our old ILS. However, we would like to be able to pull together some of this information for each month and for next year. We also are interested in finding out the best way to create reports of daily circulation that would include checking out items at the library for that library's patrons and the items we send on intralibrary loan to other libraries in our network. Thanks for any information you can send our way. -- *Diedre Conkling** Lincoln County Library District P.O. Re: [Koha] Fwd: Re: Barcode info and maybe SQL/MARCXML help needed
by Doug Dearden 20 Sep '12

Hi all, No issues here, just following up in case someone is looking at this thread in the future. I updated the database using the sql statement below, and it deleted most of the 852 datafields. I thought all was well but a week or so later found a record that still had some 852 datafields in it. Upon investigation I found a number of records - around 400, and all of them had multiple 852 datafields - at least two per record. I did some experimentation and the sql statement below only works on those records where there is a single 852 datafield. I tried some variations and found that if I ran this one it would remove the first 852 datafield: update biblioitems set marcxml = UpdateXML(marcxml, '//datafield[@tag="852"][1]', ''); I did a backup, ran the sql statement above several times until it returned 0 records changed (17 in fact, as I had one record with 16 852 datafields). Each time it ran it stripped off the leading 852 datafield. I then ran this one to check for any leftovers: SELECT ExtractValue (marcxml ,'//datafield[@tag="852"]/*') FROM biblioitems WHERE marcxml RLIKE '<datafield tag="852"'; It returned zero results. Ran touch_all_biblios.pl Zebra indexes rebuilt that night as part of our regular cron job. All looks good. - Doug -----Original Message----- From: Galen Charlton [mailto:gmc@esilibrary.com] Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2012 3:42 PM To: Doug Dearden Subject: Re: [Koha] Fwd: Re: Barcode info and maybe SQL/MARCXML help needed Hi, No, whitespace between datafield elements is irrelevant as far as Koha's parsing of the MARCXML records is concerned. Use of fast cataloging framework
by Mathieu Saby 19 Sep '12

19 Sep '12

Hi my colleagues are making an important use of the fast cataloging function (activated by creating a FA framework), in Koha master, as we have got many books not cataloged yet, and most of our periodicals. Having used this kind of function in other ILS before, I'm surprised Koha doesn't give us the possibility to generate an alert for the staff when these documents are checked in (or maybe did I miss something?). FA records generally needs to be properly cataloged after they are checked in. I'd like to know if librarians elsewere are using fast cataloging. And if so, are you satisfied with the way it is currently working ? Have you managed to create alerts at check in, with circulation notes for example (I don't find it very convenient) ? (additionally, there a small bug at check out with FA framework when a duplicate is detected, but we have informed our vendor...) I really don't know exactly what happened: I'm in Italy and the library is in Africa !! (in Asmara - Eritrea) They told me today that a girl deleted (for error) all the usernames and all passwords of the staff, but I don't know how exactly she did... So I was asking if there is a way to access to the staff client anyway I think your idea is good ! I'll try to enter in their server by VPN and investigate better Thanks a lot ! >Hi Claudio, > >that sounds like quite some misunderstanding.
