Effects of stopping the chron job

We are a 3 library network that will grow to 10 libraries by the end of 2014. We have just come online in June and have upgraded to Koha 3.10.09.0000. At this time we are concerned with the fine updates that occur when the chron job runs every night. We see customer service issues arising where a patron may exceed the fine threshold of $10 with only a few items out, but need to renew these items and would like to do it online. What we would like to know is if there are any library systems out there that assess fines and have turned off the chron job? What were the impacts of doing so? If you did do it and then changed back we would like to know that information as well. If you are a single library and have done this please also respond. Thanks for your input. LIVE DVD is the best into to a general person of KOHA! I remember back when I first tried to install it on red hat and there were all these unsatisfied external things and kati kaui or what ever you call him was PAT so that is .... 10 years ago or? do not do away with live dvd it may be one of the best marketing tools you have to entice new users. Dear Friends, I don't know why Release Maintainer of Koha 3.12.x always forgot to give the exact name of Live DVD manager in release notes!!! http://koha-community.org/koha-3-12-4-released/ I once again request to Release Manager to read once more roles for 3.12 version. http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Roles_for_3.12 I would like to get the reputation as Live DVD Manager. report for weeding

Hello, One of our departments has asked to see a complete list of books that we are considering weeding, so that they can identify ones that they want us to keep. If we're going to provide them with this list, we want it to include circulation information, so they can take into account the fact that many of these books haven't checked out in years! Another librarian approached me about how to make this list, but I was not quite sure how. His idea was to create a fake patron, called Weeding, and check all the books out to the patron. He then asked if we could run a report of everything checked out to that patron. We'd want the report to include the title, author, date last checked out, and total checkouts, and probably year of publication. I don't see a way to do this using the guided reports. Does anyone have an idea for us of either a) how to make a report of items checked out to a particular patron and including the information I need, or b) another not-too-time-consuming way to make this list?
