Hi everyone, We need your help! I'd like to advertise that we have a vote upcoming in the community for the roles for the next release cycle, 24.11. Please see the roles page at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Roles_for_24.11 and add your name to a role if you would like to propose volunteering for it. The team vote will take place on May 2nd at the next community general meeting <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/General_IRC_meeting_2_May_2024>. We'd love to see some new faces on the team, and it's just as important to have non-developers helping to guide the ship as it is the developers. Some roles I'd like to draw your attention to: * Bug Wranglers <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Bug_wrangler> - We can always do with more bug wranglers! These people love to keep things tidy and Bugzilla is always in need of your help. We need people to help manage 'the list', identify the duplicates, promote bugs to specialists and find people to do signoffs and testing. Everyone is invited to this party, we need you! This is a great first-time role to take on and it makes a real difference to active community contributors' lives! * Documentation Team <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Documentation_team> - The documentation team is a growing team that's made great inroads into bringing Koha's documentation up to date and ensuring we have a well-documented piece of software. There's plenty more to do and they're always on the lookout for new contributors. The documentation team are a super-friendly group and would love to see you join them; Aude is happy to have a chat <https://chat.koha-community.org> should you want to talk about the role before applying. * Wiki Curators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Wiki_team> - Koha's wiki is bursting at the seams with good information, but we need your help to bring order to the chaos and keep improving the content. If you've got an interest in maintaining an area of the Wiki, helping identify out-of-date information or categorizing data then this is a job for you. * Meeting facilitators <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Meeting_facilitators> - We have regular meetings in the community to discuss development progress, documentation tasks and general community needs. It would be really helpful to have someone to help promote those meetings, keep them on track and work on the minutes. Right now these meetings tend to be run, recorded, minuted and promoted all by the team managers and that's a difficult task. We'd really like some help here, please. * Accessibility advocate <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Project_roles#Accessibility_advocate> - In Koha, we really want to be open and accessible to all but accessibility is an area that many of us are not as aware of as we should be. We'd like to have some people helping to promote best practices and report accessibility issues we might not be aware of. There are lots of other roles and I'm more than happy to try and mentor anyone interested in taking any of them on. Call to Koha Community presence on The Perl and Raku Conference 2024 in Las Vegas (US) on June 24-28

At the past "Perl and Koha conferences in Helsinki" we made an efficient effort to interconnect the communities, Per and Koha. Here is another step to take to improve this: this summer in Las Vegas (US), June 24-28: there will be the *most important Perl event in 2024*: "The Perl and Raku Conference". I will be representing us there, but that's not enough ;-). To increase our Koha presence, interconnection, and respect in the Perl community, we need to be represented on this TPRC.us not just by the stand and a few talks of mine, but by a bigger Koha track, if possible, at least for a day. To make this happen, I can't do it alone. This needs more talkers, Perl-oriented. If you can come with a talk, even if not sure, but possible - let's coordinate and combine our efforts. *I will be glad to help in talk preparation if needed (or just be glad to be aware that you are coming)*, – just let me know, Andrii <nugged(a)gmail.com> <nugged(a)gmail.com>, Knowing whom from Koha people want to come and in which role will help us plan our presence. !!! IMPORTANT: I/we will be collecting talks ideas/topics for the next week (!!!), and then we can improve later, but we need to declare what we can present during this time for The Perl Community, so please communicate ASAP 🙏. We will then post drafts on the "Call for talks" TPRC.us page section this/next week – I will support you. Don't be too demanding. If you already had some previous Perl-related talks at Koha workshops or conferences, it's also good to re-make some of those for the Perl community. Simpler topics are good, too, just to show and explain how we solved some things in Koha Perl/Linux-wise, such as what you or your team did. Or just regular clean "Perl experience/development talk". What I can promise you back: you will return from this conference knowing all core Perl people, as Perl _and_ Koha community members, insights, and all those things and Perl community will add to their trust in Koha as the current uprising trend Modern Perl product (and actually sub-Perl community behind!). Solved: Patron not searchable after initial login with LDAP

Hello, I´ve just read Katrin Fischer´s hint in the digest and it matches my solution found an hour before: LDAP has failed to transfer into the parameter "cardnumber" out of the LDAP attribute employeeNumber because it was not set (empty) for this person in our LDAP. If the mandatory field cardnumber is empty, Koha reacts sometimes (I´ve had some other users without this problem) weird if one tries to search him/her. The trick to access the existing users without cardnumber was to create a patron report and access the bad users directly with the provided links in the report and then define a cardnumber within. I´ve changed the LDAP attribute uid (which is also persistant for us) for use as the cardnumber in Koha´s configuration file now and it worked well. The best of it: I´ve learned a lot about Koha during the debugging session. Thanks Andreas Tomiak

Patron not searchable after initial login with LDAP

Hello, a new user has successfully created a new patron record. If we try to search him, the administrative interface returns empty pages. We don´t find any hint in the log files. A database error? The user was created automatically after his first login with LDAP data. Any hints to fix this? We are using the actual Koha version, restart of koha-common or MariaDB and a full system restart does not change the weird behaviour. *Mattermost - the new place to be for all things Koha* chat.koha-community.org Many of us have been discussing for ages how we would like to improve communication across the Koha Community and these discussions really came to a head at Hackfest last week in Marseille. We all decided that we needed a new tool that is as inclusive as possible, open source, modern, easy to use and familiar. The tool selected is Mattermost and you can start to use it straight away to ask questions, discuss bugs, raise issues or find out news about the Koha project. It will take a few weeks to settle into, and to implement all of the connections, integrations and bots that will make it as near perfect as a tool can be, but if you are happy to just dive in, then go over to chat.koha-community.org and log in. There is currently a bridge to IRC so that anything posted in IRC appears in a channel in Mattermost and anything posted in that channel (in Mattermost) appears in IRC. There are no plans to leave IRC completely - it will take time for everyone to get used to Mattermost and for the community to make sure it isn’t cutting out any voices if it does decide to stop using IRC. The current Mailing lists are also unaffected by this change. In fact I doubt what I'm doing is the correct way but I couldn't find any information in the manual on how to configure OAI-PMH except via the system preferences. Why is Koha showing the incorrect URL https://bibliothek.iunworld.com/opac/oai.pl at all and how can I change this? Error 500 when searching in Koha 23.11.0

Hi I have updated our database from koha 21.11.10 to the current Koha 23.11.04. When searching the catalogue I get a result list, but when clicking a single hit I get an error 500. In file "plack-error.log" I have found the following line which could be the reason: DBIx::Class::Storage::DBI::_dbh_execute(): DBI Exception: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Unknown column 'issue.renewals_count' in 'field list' at /usr/share/koha/lib/Koha/Objects.pm line 317 In fact there is no table "issue" in Koha 23.11, the correct name of this table is "issues" (see https://schema.koha-community.org/23_11/tables/issues.html) I have searched in Bugzilla but couldn't find a respective bug. But I found the sequence "issue.renewals_count" in https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/attachment.cgi?id=137152 so there may be some relation to https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=30275 Does anyone know how I can solve this problem with the 500 error? Update to Koha 23.11.04 fails

Hi Today I tried to update a Koha 21.11.10 database to Koha 23.11.04 but the update process failed at the following point: Upgrade to 23.06.00.068 [22:55:59]: Bug 23798 - Convert OpacMaintenanceNotice system preference to additional contents ERROR - {UNKNOWN}: DBI Exception: DBD::mysql::db selectrow_array failed: Unknown column 'id' in 'field list' at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Installer.pm line 741 I couldn't find anything regarding this error in Bugzilla, but maybe it is related to https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=23798#c12 which shows a similar error regarding an "Unknown column 'title'".
