Display Image

Greetings to all, I would like to display an image (photo) of my library on the opac (Mainuserblock). How can I achieve this. I would like a scenario where this image (picture) is stored within Koha and displays on the opac's mainuserblock. Install instructions change?

I noticed that in the latest Debian package install instructions it no longer says to create MySQL user and grant appropriate access. Is this correct? I am installing test server and it's not launching the web installer. It's strange. Get Outlook for iOS

How to run cron to autobackup of koha database (only sql) ?

Dear All, I have two questions regarding 1) cronjob and 2) time stamp I would like to know, How to setup cronjob to autobackup of database sql daily ?(before we close the library) Till now, I have enabled Cronjob with localhost:~# cd /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs localhost:~# crontab -u root crontab.example /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs shows - crontab.example and it has all the required instructions for the cron. I wanted to autobackup of koha db (example: at 5:15 pm daily before library closes) I tried with, following steps. 1. added in crontab -e #ADDED BY SATISH FOR DAILY BACKUP AT 5.15 PM DAILY 15 17 * * * mysqldump -uroot -pmysqlrootpassword dbname | gzip -9 > /home/satish/Dropbox/dbname.sql.gz When I check the dbsize, it is "zero". Therefore, It is not working! 2. by default Koha has /etc/cron.daily koha-run-backups --days 2 --output /var/spool/koha But, It backups when system boots every morning. how to schedule the time for the same? And Koha-run-backups has all the sql and config files backup. But I wanted have only complete db (sql). And also, our library works from 9:30 am to 5.30 pm on week days and 9:30-1:30 pm on every Saturday. (Desktop machine) as server, will be shutdown in the evening everyday until library receives a dedicated server machine. Currently, after setting up- Postfix mail agent, overdue message, advance due notice, check in, check out , new registration notice all are working fine,. but I wanted to setup timings as per the open and closing hours. The checkout Message includes (Notices Section): example Due Date: 20/09/2016 23:59 How to change the Due Date time from 23:59 to 5.30 pm or 17:30 ? My Koha Details are: Version -16.5.01 (upgraded from 3.16.00) OS: Ubuntu - 14.04 server edition (upgraded from 12.04) Install method - Packages Kindly share your best practices? with thanks Satish MV Librarian Govt. Zebra Index stopping daily

Hey Everyone, There has been a strange issue with my install over the past 12 months or so. The Zebra index seems to stop daily. A crontab has been setup to run it daily at 7am -* 7 * * * koha-start-zebra library Despite this, I have to manually restart zebra. Any ideas? I'm currently at the latest version of Koha as I hoped it would resolve this issue. Multiple Classification Schemes

I hope this is a complicated question with a simple answer. I would like to classify the non-fiction books in our collection under Dewey and the fiction under BISAC (or another genre system with higher specificity), but there does not seem to be a way to pull the MARC 084 field into the Koha call number field 952$o when I have it already pulling from 082ab for Dewey. Is there a syntax for system preference itemcallnumber that would allow me to pull multiple fields (e.g. "084a, 082ab") into the call number? If there happened to be two in the record I could simply erase the one I didn't need while cataloging the items. I set up a new framework thinking there would be an option to map this differently, but that doesn't seem to be the case. How do libraries with different material type collections handle call numbers? If I want to be really wild with this and pull the MARC 650 field (containing BISAC subjects) into the item call number Koha field 952$o, resulting in call numbers such as FICTION / Literary, is that going to mess with the filing of the item records in the shelf browser? I could add a cutter as I do with Dewey or last name if that would help. Finally, what are the rules of the "generic" call number filing rules? There does not seem to be any way to alter those, and creating a new rule doesn't seem to change anything, as I have only DDC, LCC, and generic filing routines to choose from. Because I am able to choose the source of classification scheme when creating an item I assume this is not uncharted territory, but I am at a loss. Thank you for your help. Attaching files to catalogue records

Greetings Koha Users I followed a tutorial on Attaching Files to Catalogue Records, accessed from: http://kohageek.blogspot.com/2015/12/attaching-files-to- catalog-records.html I followed the instructions and very thing worked. Question? 1. How do I prevent the attached file "downloading". 2. Is it possible to tweak something so that a patron can only read the attached document on-screen and not downloading it. I have Koha 16.05.01 ON Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I installed using: https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages Please help me. Or is there another way of achieving this? > Hmm it was deleted, but it looks like the code is still trying to use it. Or there wouldn't be that error in the logs. Could this be originating from an older template file (non-English one) or so ? Forgot to retranslate the templates ? This script should not be in the code any longer.
