Search for "see also" records shows NO RESULTS FOUND

Hi After an update from Koha 3.20.4 we work on a new host with Debian GNU/Linux 8 and Koha 17.05.1. Our catalog contains authority records with "see also" records. For example the subject "Buchkultur" has a "see also" record "Lesekultur". On Koha 3.20 it was possible to search the OPAC for subject "Lesekultur" and thus finding the records with subject "Buchkultur". In Koha 17.05 it will only find the main authority records, but not the "see also" records. Thus an OPAC search for "Lesekultur" will find NO RESULTS here. Why is that so? We have tried to relink all authorities (using script "link_bibs_to_authorities.pl"). We have also tried to rebuild the Zebra index for the authorities, but to no avail. Are we missing something? How to import loans data into Koha?

Gentle Reader, We are migrating records from a few small community libraries (currently held as a fancy spreadsheet) into Koha 17.05. I have figured out how to migrate the biblio records, items and patron data but I was wondering if there is a way to import data on current issues (loans)? All we really need to import is the item ID, the patron ID and the due-back date. Is there a tool to do this? Or is it a question of populating the issues table directly? If so, does anyone have a script to do this? Any pointers gratefully received ... Chris Brown

Restrict access

Dear members. I need a little help with an access level problem. I will catalog books and digital material (PDF files, audios and images). There will be three different types of readers: basic, intermediate and advanced. The material will also have three levels: basic, intermediate and advanced. My question is how to make: a) an advanced reader have access (opac) to all three levels of material; b) an intermediate level reader only accesses intermediate and basic level material; c) and a basic level reader only access basic level material. There have to be no way to one level of reader get any information of material there does not belong to a level up. I would appreciate any help. Thank you all. batch forgive fines

Hi all, One of my people asked ... "Can we batch forgive fines $2.50 and less? (Anything larger is a lost book fee, and I want those to stay) That way everyone will start out at $0. (If it's something I can do, I'm happy to, I didn't see it when I was snooping around) I saw where I could batch modify an item. I'm going to try that for the books I've pulled, to mark them as "withdrawn"." So...is there an easy way to forgive fines under $2.50 for a group of users ?? Thanks , -S

Import holds?

Our little (24K items) library has successfully moved from Mandarin to Koha as of Tuesday. I was able to import the catalog, patrons, and checkouts (issues) from Mandarin by writing scripts to convert Mandarin-generated data to Koha-compatible data. The one missing thing is holds (reserves). I'm still looking for a way to generate a holds report in Mandarin, but assuming I can generate such a report, I don't see a way to import hold information into Koha. I was able to use KOC files to import issues, but the KOC file format doesn't support holds. I was wondering if there is some other way to import holds programmatically, or if anyone else has had to deal with this problem when migrating to Koha.

Koha Perl script for re-indexing

Hi I have three instances of Koha system that have been upgraded to Koha 17.05 that are giving issues with re-indexing and have to manually run /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -v -b -x -r to recreate a full index. I am thinking of having a script that will be accessible to superlibrarian via a link in the Koha staff interface that when clicked will run the command above. Indic language conjunct clusters printed incorrectly in spine label

[CROSS-POSTING] Hi all, This is w.r.t. https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=19084 (there is a screenshot on the bug showing the problem) This problem seems to be present for most Indian languages whenever they have conjunct clusters in their call numbers (depicted as grapheme clusters in an unicoded string). To describe the problem simply - the order of chars rendered is incorrect in the output. For example the string - "শেখর" is represented by the following code points - \x{09B6}\x{09C7}\x{0996}\x{09B0}. Now here is the catch: \x{09B6} represents the bengali letter SHA, whereas \x{09C7} represents the bengali vowel sign E; however in the correct linguistic visual presentation, the vowel sign E sits before the SHA, which is not how the codepoints are arranged in the unicode string. I looked around PDF::Reuse, Text::PDF::TTFont etc modules, what seems to me to be the root of this problem is the unpacku() method which is pushing the unicode characters into an array in order to introduce them into the PDF content stream with the correct font information. However, being pushed in in that order, I think may be the cause of this problem, which would make this an upstream issue rather than a Koha bug. Your inputs / feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. cheers indranil PS.
