Does Koha has a web service API or search API for searching books on different input parameters
by prachim 04 Dec '17

Hi, One of our client is a college. They are already using Koha for their library management. We are developing an android application for their students using which they can search for a book in first phase. This android app will send user queries to our back-end server, the back-end is developed in Java. We are expected to take input criteria specified by student (e.g.title, author, publisher etc.) and search for the book and its availability. So is there any web service API or search API by Koha for searching books on different input parameters? What kind of authentication need to be provided to access data specific to this college? -- Sent from: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-general-f3047918.html

Adding a new content page to the OPAC
by Admire Mutsikiwa 04 Dec '17

I have been trying to add a new OPAC Page by following http://www.prosentient.com.au/index.php/koha-faq/119-faq-koha-add-a-page but I am getting a 404 error . I am running Koha 17.05.06.000 in Ubuntu 16.04. Is there anything that needs to be done, for instance, to some configuration files for the page to be seen in the OPAC page. ERROR LOADING MODULE: Date::Manip::DM6
by Federico Leva (Nemo) 02 Dec '17

02 Dec '17

Hello! I'm trying Koha on a small fedora 23 virtual machine for testing (500 MB RAM, 1 core) and I often get this error in the web interface: ---- Software error: ERROR LOADING MODULE: Date::Manip::DM6 at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Date/Manip.pm line 34. Compilation failed in require at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/C4/Overdues.pm line 25. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/C4/Overdues.pm line 25. When it happens I see I have less than 10 MB free memory so it really just seems a resource issue. I'll give Koha more memory :) but let me know if I missed something obvious. Federico (BEIC)

renewal rules and days not corresponding
by Daniel Owens 02 Dec '17

02 Dec '17

We are using Koha 3.22.04.000. We have renewal rules for all libraries and our branch set up to renew for 14 days. But upon renewal Koha adds 10 days. So I tried changing the renewal rule to 30 days, and upon renewal Koha added 34 days. Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before? Daniel

Export Patrons report has passwords encrypted
by Christopher Davis 01 Dec '17

01 Dec '17

Dear Colleagues, My library needs to regularly send to a vendor a list of our patrons' library card numbers and passwords/PINs so that they can authenticate patrons. The only way which I have found to do this is to use the "Export Patrons" report found at < https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library#Export_patrons>. Unfortunately, the passwords in the report are encrypted and are not given in cleartext. I am glad to see that Koha does not just give out passwords in cleartext, but is there a way to make this work?
