SQL edit for Non-circulating items report

Hello, Our library is engaged in a weeding project that requires a SQL report for Koha to be customized. The report we are attempting to customize was written by ByWater Solutions, and it generates a list of items "not seen" in X years, by branch and shelf location. The existing report is written in SQL as follows: SELECT i.itemcallnumber, b.biblionumber, b.title, b.author, b.copyrightdate, i.barcode, i.datelastseen, i.issues AS totalcheckouts, i.dateaccessioned FROM items i LEFT JOIN issues USING (itemnumber) LEFT JOIN biblio b USING (biblionumber) WHERE homebranch = <<Home Library|branches>> AND location = <<Shelving location|LOC>> AND i.withdrawn=0 AND i.itemlost=0 AND i.damaged=0 AND i.itemnumber NOT IN (SELECT issues.itemnumber FROM issues) AND YEAR(NOW())-YEAR(i.datelastseen) > <<Years NOT seen>> ORDER BY i.itemcallnumber ASC We would like to modify this report so that in addition to returning the author, title and copyright date, it also returns the ISBN. However, adding "b.isbn" to the SELECT list (as with "b.title", "b.author", etc.) breaks the report and renders it non-functional. Can anyone suggest how the SQL given above should be modified to create a functional report that will generate a list of items "not seen" in X years, by branch and shelf location, and that will return the ISBN *in addition to* the title, author, copyright date and barcode for each item listed in the report? Query on Tracking in-house use

This is my first post to the community and I want to thank you all for this fantastic resource. I have learned so much over the past few months since we went live with Koha last year. We are about to go live with 19.11 and I have a question about Tracking in-house use. We would like use this to track usage of items (such as reference works or journals) that cannot be removed from our public Reading Room or archive rooms. I understand that tracking the use of items in the library without checking them out can be done in Koha one of two ways. The first is to create one or more Statistical Patrons<https://koha-community.org/manual/19.11/en/html/patrons.html#add-a-statisti…>. The other way to record local use of items is to set your RecordLocalUseOnReturn<https://koha-community.org/manual/19.11/en/html/systempreferences.html#reco…> preference to ‘Record.’ Then whenever you check an item in that is not checked out and not on hold a local use will be recorded. Does anyone have experience of using this feature and if so which option did you choose from the 2 options available? How has it worked? What are the pros and cons, what setup is needed etc. Thanks very much in advance! Koha 18.11, Debian GNU/Linux 9 and MariaDB 10.3

Hi Our library uses Koha 18.11 and MariaDB 10.1 on Debian GNU/Linux 9. At the moment an update to Debian GNU/Linux 10 (including MariaDB 10.3) is not possible. Since MariaDB 10.1 reaches its end of life on 17 October 2020 the local IT division wants to update from MariaDB 10.1 to 10.3. Has someone done this already? Scripting the Overnight Authorities job.

Our library is working hard to have really tight authority control and one of the services we use is an “Overnight Authorities” one provided by a bibliographic data service company. At appropriate intervals (currently meaning “when I get around to it” ) we send our newly created or updated bibliographic records to the data services company, and within some hours receive two data files back. The first is the biblios (changed in some minor ways, including some RDA work done, I recall) and the second is a file of new authority records for the headings in the biblios sent. Both files are imported and when the authority linker runs every week, the biblios are placed under authority control. So far I have been doing all the data extract, data transfers and biblio overlaying and new authorities imports manually, but I want to significantly increase the frequency of using the service, and I am looking at scripting the tasks, and adding them to the crontab. Sadly my scripting skills have deteriorated to non-existent and I have contacted our support company. They have advised that none of their customers do anything like this and they are not aware of any other Koha users with a similar requirement. But surely there are customers who do have this requirement- my impression is that at least in the UK, authority control is very uncommon (non-existent?) in Koha, but internationally there must be many Koha users using a similar “overnight” service like this. We have no funds available for the scripting development work, and also it seems unnecessary to “reinvert the wheel” if the scripts have already been written and might only need a few local edits to automate the currently manual series of tasks. Hi Vinod, I haven't played with the HTML5 Media in Koha, but I've been curious about it, so I decided to take a look after reading your email. Looking at the code, it appears that you can embed other videos and not just Youtube videos. You'll need to use the system preferences HTML5MediaEnabled and HTML5MediaExtensions, and make sure your 856$u has a valid URL to the video. You may need to transcode your video if it's in a format that doesn't work with HTML Video. It also depends on what you mean by "Local server". Is this the same server that is running Koha? Is it a separate file server? So long your server provides the video over HTTP(S) in a way that is accessible to your users, I think that you should be fine. BULK EDIT BARCODES

Hi Team, I need to edit barcodes to replace a double hyphen (--) with a single hyphen (-). The barcodes are many and will take long using the item editor which allows me to edit one after the other. Is there a SQL command I could use to edit from the terminal? I tried running the query below. It is matching the records but changing none. Is there something I am missing? MariaDB[koha_library]> UPDATE items SET barcode = REPLACE(barcode, '%--%', '%-%') WHERE itemnumber IN (377,378,391,.....); I am using koha version 19.11 on Ubuntu 16.04 and mysql Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.0.38-MariaDB Please assist Warm Regards James

No Vinod, please don't do that. There are 4 patches on the bug report, to apply them you should use the "patch" command.
