some questions about catalogue and acquisitions

# From Acquisitions page, in <http://hlt.katipo.co.nz/cgi-bin/koha/acqui.simple/addbooks.pl?isbn=NULL> Enter book with no ISBN page, it won't bring me to the third section. In http://hlt.katipo.co.nz/catalogue/ <http://hlt.katipo.co.nz/catalogue/> page, after you input test in Keywords and click start search, all the items with COUNT as 0 have no detail information after you click Request or the TITLE. All others with count as 1 have detail information after you click Request or TITLE. How do I input count info and location info so that I can see the detail info? Thanks, Yaogeng

Searching: Subject V Class

#From my tests, I think that the "Subject" search will not return a result unless you type in a known subject name. If that is correct then it is (IMHO) not very useful for casual users (as they would not know what subject names are valid)? If this is correct, then mabe the web interface fo "subject" search should change - maybe a select list such as currently done for "Class" search? Or am I mising something!? ;^) R.

Try creating a new entry manually - by using the koha "Acquisitions" menu options. If that is too confusing then change "systempreferences" (from "Parameters" menu) option to "simple"... and add some new entries. Basic question, but... How to enter a biblio in koha without acquiring it (I allready have it) and without DB import ? It seems the only soluce is to create a "false" supplier ? -- Paul

If you are using the 1.1.1 default distribution then you will need to inport using the aquisitions menu with "normal" option set ins the "systempreferences" table - I think that is the default anyhow? I think koha wants to create a cookie to hold printer informatuion when you first run koha acquisitions - You can set up printers by creating a mysql table in koha if it is missing - information and how to do that can be found on the same link given above in this message (wiki KohaProject link). Koha post-installation questions on how to use the system

Hi, I just finish installing the koha (v. 1.1.1) system, and two web sites (koha and opac) are up and running. However, I couldn't find any documentation on how to use this system. Do I have to populate into database some basic data so that I can run it. If I do have to, what kind of information should I populate? I don't know how to input the CD(our company created by ourself) info into the system. On <http://hlt.katipo.co.nz/> Test drive the Koha Intranet acquisitions page, I can see there is a link Enter book with no ISBN, but my acquisitions page is totally different with it. hi this is just a personal opinion: i am a member of several opensource lists, and find that periodically a debate opens as to how to use opensource without worrying about where your next meal comes from. when these debates flare up i also find that the listadmins usually allow them although they are OT i would suggest that there should be two kinds of OT: 1. stuff that should not be allowed on the list 2. earning a living through open source, which should be a priveledged topic that even a listadmin should not be allowed to zap. in fact, why not hardcode this requirement into gnu/gpl? regards kg
