I'm a newbie, does anyone know the format for a marc import file? Biblio Upload

Howdy all, I'm a far cry from a librarian and I don't know the first thing about what a Marc or Biblio record is but I've loaded KOHA and I'm trying to set it up for my librarian and she gave me an ascii file of Biblio records she wanted uploaded. Well I arranged them in the format of the BIBLIO table but I can't find a way to upload them other than an SQL statement. Is there and easier way? Thanks Bryan A. Grega

Howto add an admin account

Hi! Good day! I installed Koha yesterday on a Mandrake 9 box using the installation script provided with koha 1.2.3 (great job, thanks). With some tweaking with our DNS server and virtual hosting config in Apache, I managed to have a running Koha system. My problem is that I cannot create an account that can log-in inside the Koha intranet site. I already tried inserting new record in user table inside MySQL database but still, I cannot login in the intranet site. Thanks and more power to Koha. Regards, Domingo Tamayo

Maybe a silly question

Okay, I have my OPAC going, but don't have the internet site yet, so I can't look at that. However, it seems to me that OPAC should have circulation working. Yet when I click on Circulation, I get a blank white page http://fatherbrown:8080/cgi-bin/koha/circ/circulation.pl Does anyone know how I can debug this? Is there a file that I should look for, in my directory structure? [ I have the default 1.9.0 directory structure. ] __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Here are IMPORTANT release notes : * standard acquisition and MARC cataloguing now both useable at the same time. * MANY bugfixes. * almost everything now templated. A few admin scripts still to template. * inclusion of some pictures to say "add", "modify", "delete" in many places. * the koha-html cvs tree is now UNUSED, and no mode included in this release. the koha cvs project contains everything. TODO * z39.50 support. A port from the 1.2.x z39.50 support needs to be done. Should be quick, * fixing bugs. If you find a bug in this version, please take the plane and go for a trip to : bugs.koha.org FEATURE FREEZE feature freeze is there... only z39.50 will be added until 2.0RC1, which should be the next release ! KNOWN BUGS *IMPORTANT* : * koha does NOT work with MARC::Record 1.12. It works fine with MARC::Record 0.93, and maybe with other versions. * repeted subfields in MARC/iso2709 works poorly : only the 1st subfield is stored, other are ignored. At least, the 1st is right ! (in the 1.9.0, the 1st was buggied by other subfields too) * In the MARC search, the "not" flag does not work : the result of the query is very strange ! * en and fr are the only languages well supported in this version. Thanks, Rosalie and Rachel, for your response. I gave a presentation on open source software and library mangement systems (inclusing Koha) to a bunch of library students last week and that was one of the questions they asked me! HI Really this is just a test message to make sure that Lucia is getting mail again from the list :-) However I might as well take the opportunity to welcome all our new members of the Koha family, and say hi to our old friends. We now have over 400 people on the Koha list, from all around the world. We have CafePresss shop for Koha stuff - and their excellent "hoddie" sweatshirts are on sale at the moment http://www.cafeshops.com/koha We got some last year and they have lasted well - they did shrink a little on washing, so if you're not sure what size, you might want to go slightly bigger. CafePress have been excellent to deal with - when we had to get a couple of things redone (Wonky printing) they let us just keep the shirt rather than having to ship it back to the USA which I thought was awesome. Authority file?

Hi there, can anyone tell me whether Koha has an authority file for name and subject? When you're cataloguing an item, is there a place to enter a name or subjecy in an authority list for search purposes? Thanks, Ailish Farragher Dublin, Ireland
