I use MarcEdit as my Z39.50 search engine as well as editor. My questions relate to: creating the holdings field before MARC data is loaded into KOHA 2.2.9 on Windows. I'm not savvy enough to know how to run the batch load script for loading records batch-by-batch into KOHA. Can you give some help and instructions? Perhaps because of familiarity, it seems easier to edit both MARC records and holdings in MarcEdit or Marc Magician rather than KOHA. For those unfamiliar with MySQL and Perl, is there some good way to get up-to-speed on how to "run scripts" that are mentioned on this list? You could save your spreadsheet as tab-delimited text or CSV, then use MarcEdit to create a file that you can import into Koha. Advanced Search in Koha 3 and Item availability

Hello; Advanced search seems to only work with keyword and sorting. I cannot choose Item type, sub-type, branch or any option except entering a keyword and sorting. Is this some option I missed to check somewhere? Maybe related but my homebranch and holding branch are in "items" of a biblio when I click "Edit" but do not show up in the catalogue until I hit "Save" without changing data, just hitting save. These records have been imported from anoter ILS into Koha 2.2.9 then upgraded to 3 alpha and now using 3 beta. I really do not want to do that several thousand times for all my records! Hi all, My library is currently testing the Koha 3 alpha as a possible successor to our ILS (Sirsi), but there are a series of things we're having difficulty figuring out, most of which have to do with dealing with the MARC framework. I have been unable to find an extensive help file or web page for Koha 3, and if one exists, I'd appreciate it if someone could point me there. Thanks, J.

Error with repeatable MARC tags

Hi everyone, I'm new to this list. I've been working on customizing Koha (2.2.9) for Windows, and have run into a problem that was posted by someone else last year--but I can't find a reply to it. Would anyone be able to help? This has to do with the MARC tags which are set to repeat in the bib framework. When I click on the + sign to repeat the tag, nothing happens and I get an "error" message at the bottom. Repeatable subfields are working fine. Thanks in advance! Jennifer

integrating special collections

Hello All, We've just started looking at Koha for our library, and I ran across this promising bit from a press release: "In addition to its virtually unparalleled MARC support, Zebra will allow Koha to store any structured record format (email, XML, Dublin Core) opening new horizons for special collections. " We're interested in integrating some of our archives and digital images collections into the catalog - are there any Koha libraries that have already done anything like this? Is there any documentation or discussion that I should look at to give me a better idea of how this might work? Everything I've found so far focuses on MARC. Thanks! Script for adding records

hi. I'm ready to do my own perl editing. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out which perl script is responsible for adding the biblio record when you are working from a blank form. I've looked at biblio.pl, is that the correct one? Also, suggestions for a windows interface for perl editing that includes line numbers and has no cost would be great. I've got currently got PSPad.
