Horowhenua Library Trust announces new Koha website.

It is with a sense of pride that Horowhenua Library Trust launched its new Koha library management system late last week, the public face of which is the new website: www.library.org.nz. <http://www.library.org.nz/> The new site is built on the Koha 3.2 Alpha2 release and the work was led by Chris Cormack from Catalyst IT <http://www.catalyst.net.nz/>. The site features the work of Wendy Hodder<http://kete.library.org.nz/site/topics/show/43-wendy-hodder>, renowned children's book illustrator and muralist. The site development was carried out by the team at Katipo <http://katipo.co.nz/> Communications and incorporates digital content from a Library Trust Kete <http://kete.net.nz/>, an open source digital library application developed by Walter McGinnis at Katipo for the Library Trust. Koha is an open source library management system originally developed by Horowhenua Library Trust in New Zealand in 1999. The Trust would like to acknowledge and thank the many libraries and developers from around the world who have contributed to Koha 3.2. Dear all, I have recently installed Koha LMS for my library. I have encountered various errors when entering the records to the system. I managed to solve some problems but I sitll have one which I have tried to solve but in vain. When I save the record of an item entred into the system, the system displays the following message: The following fatal error has occurred: Tag " " is not a valid tag. at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2036 Apache Server version: Apache/2.2.12 (Ubuntu) Server built: Nov 12 2009 22:49:46 Koha 3.00.05.003 Koha DB 3.0005003 MySQL mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.37, for debian-linux-gnu (i486) using EditLine wrapper OS Linux kohasvr 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010 i686 Perl 5.010000 Will you kindly help me to fix this problem so that I continue entering records in my system. Bariki, What version of Koha are you using and what is your platform. I have installed 3.02 on Fedora 12 and had quite a bit of problems fixing that SAX parser error. As I understand it, different distributions of Linux install different perl libraries. Koha requires some tweaking on the SAX::Parser modules. It's come up in threads of this mailing list and in the bug reporting. Try this installation guide, about 2/3rd down. Encountering problem when creating a Chinese record

Dear all We have just installed a Koha 3.04 instance and wanted to test on whether it supports non-Latin scripts. We are using Marc21 as the encoding standards. We have uploaded some Chinese records in the system and display of Chinese characters are perfect. However, we have problem in the searching of Chinese characters. The result is not accurate. The result list even contains non-Chinese records and with no words coincide with the transliteration from the Chinese characters being searched. So I did an experiment of creating records with Chinese characters. I tried to create a new title with just 2 Chinese characters in the title field, when I saved the record, the following error msg came out: The following fatal error has occurred: Wide character in null operation at /usr/share/perl5/MARC/Charset/Table.pm line 96. Hello Thomas, Yes. The server is not on the internet despite the ip. I changed the port to 7000 for certain reasons. I can use koha on the machine fine. When I browse to the ip stated below I get a bad verb error. Thanks for your response. Upgrading from Win. ver 2.2.9 to Linux ver 3.00.06

HI all, I'm looking for the easiest way to go from Koha ver 2.2.9 (on windows) to version 3.00.06 (on Debian). Is it possible to just do a SQL dump/recover or are there significant changes to the SQL database that would prevent this or make it more work than it's worth? As a test, I was able to export/import the patrons fairly easily (required a little data massaging, but not much). I'm not terribly concerned about holding info (we are a Public School, so all of our books will be returned next week for summer break), but we have entered Accelerated Reader information into the MARC's of many of the books in our collection. Hello Vimal, Thanks so much for your help. i've got the CD and checked the dbwiz site. Some links are broken, especially the one to the Administrators pdf. I however can not see anywhere where there are specific instructions of setting up Koha. However looking at sample configuration, i can see the need to add a module in the form DBWIZ::Search::Z3950::Endeavour (for example). How do i set up a koha module, do i need any configuration to expose the Koha z39.50 server to dbwiz?
