Contents information for serials
by James Baker 23 Feb '15

23 Feb '15

Hi everyone, How do you display contents information for individual issues of serials? Currently I'm using the item z public notes subfield, but this results in fairly poor formatting of the record display in both the staffclient and the opac. What do you find is the most useful way for this to be presented? --------------------- Best Regards, James Baker CALYX Support Team support(a)calyx.net.au

Import: essential MARC-fields?!
by Frank Peters 23 Feb '15

23 Feb '15

Hello, I am about to import a catalog from another library software to Koha via a MARC 21 (*.mrc) file. Are there essential MARC fields which must not lack in a single entry so that Koha imports it correctly? Where does it show the total items in my database?
by ChristyThomas 21 Feb '15

21 Feb '15

Hi, We are a school library that only has books, no media. The school would like to know how many books are in our library. How do I check how many total items are in our database? (total of all types of books, not total items of one book) How do I check how many records are in our database without having to add a book to check? Thanks so much, Christy -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Where-does-it-show-the-total-items-in-my-… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Authorized values
by Bob Ewart 21 Feb '15

21 Feb '15

We need a way to link family members together. I can setup an additional attribute, Family, which could be repeated. The value would be the card number of one of the other members of the family. Ideally it would be a valid card number, however limiting it to 4 or 5 digits would at least give a sanity check. Authorized values are fixed constants. Having a way to specify a pattern would be very useful. -- Bob Ewart

Possible error on Manual
by Anthony Mao 20 Feb '15

Hi, At http://manual.koha-community.org/3.18/en/opaclistscart.html 3.1.3. Viewing Lists Contents "iso2079 is MARC format" should be "ISO 2709 is MARC format" 1. iso should capitalize. 2. ISO 2079 has nothing to do with MARC In fact, this sentence should be "MARC21 is an instance of ISO 2709." -- Wishing you all the best. . . . Koha indexing - files
by Chad Roseburg 20 Feb '15

20 Feb '15

We are currently setting up a server and have a question about the location of the zebra indexes. Is /var/lib/koha/instancename/biblios/ the only place zebra keeps the index files it writes to during the indexing process? We are considering mounting the index files to a separate high-performance disk array in hopes of improving performance during the indexing process -- has anyone experimented with something like this? Thanks! -- Chad Roseburg Automation Dept. North Central Regional Library
