System Parameters - what set first?

Hi All, I have just got a linux version of Koha v2.2.7 installed by a hard working IT colleague. It is now up to me to start the librarian part - setting up the System Parameters. I have read what looks like conflicting(?) instructions in the documentation, and I don't want to start on the wrong track. Which should I set first: Fill in the tables as they appear when you select the Parameters tabbed page (as recommended by the excellent Koha Newbie Guide) or The System Preferences admin option from the Parameters tabbed page (as recommended by the also excellent Koha User's Manual) Any help would be much appreciated. When I run ./installer.pl -i: I get: MISSING PERL MODULES You are missing some Perl modules required by Koha. Please run this again after installing them. They may be installed by finding packages from your operating system supplier, or running (as root) the following commands: perl -MCPAN -e 'install "MARC::File::XML"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "ZOOM"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need GD::Barcode for the new barcode generator"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "You will need Net::LDAP if you want to authentify patrons through a LDAP"' running perl -MCPAN -e 'install "MARC::File::XML"' I get : Failed 4/4 test scripts, 0.00% okay. 29/34 subtests failed, 14.71% okay. make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255 /usr/bin/make test -- NOT OK Running make install make test had returned bad status, won't install without force How do I get it to force install? I tried -f and it would not work. *** WARNING! ZOOM-Perl requires at least version 2.1.45 of YAZ, but is currently you only have version 2.1.8. Running make test Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't test Running make install Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't install I get the YAZ error but it should be correct

When I run this command perl -MCPAN -e '-install Net::Z3950::ZOOM' I get this error: *** WARNING! ZOOM-Perl requires at least version 2.1.45 of YAZ, but is currently you only have version 2.1.8. Running make test Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't test Running make install Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't install . I tried looking for a copy of 2.1.45 of YAZ and can not find one. Does anyone know a way of getting around this error?

Christopher, I used the "Installing Koha 2.4 on Debian GNU/ Linux 3.1 "stable" (sarge) documentation (http://www.kohadocs.org/Installing_Koha_on_Debian_sarge.pdf) and added the two lines in the /etc/apt/sources.list. #for Yaz Toolkit deb http://ftp.indexdata.dk/debian indexdata/sarge released deb-src http://ftp.indexdata.dk/debian indexdata/sarge released After this was added, I ran apt-get update apt-get install libyaz-dev apt-get install yaz-doc Zoom installed fine for me. Instal Koha 2.2.7 before firewall

I try to install Koha 2.2.7 on Linux Debian Etch with connecting to the Internet through proxy. Commands apt-get and perl -MCPAN th 'install... easily set up for work via proxy. But as to setting CVS for proxy? Hello, My name is Frédéric Demians. I'm based in Paris, France. I've been working with specialized libraries for years. In the past, I developed software for libraries, named Tamil. I used to sell and maintained it. After that, I distributed databases and ILSs (Integrated Library Software) in France. My activity consisted in deploying those solutions in libraries and information centers, and also developing specifically-related solutions: web portals for library catalogs, archive collections, etc., and e-commerce portals. Today I am embracing the Open Source paradigm and I've chosen Koha as ILS. My double experience, as a software developer and distributor, allows me to compare both approaches, which has led me to value the advantages of Open Source. Dialog with users is straightforward and drive fast software improvements. For my customers and myself I want this ease of operations. I’m also choosing Koha because I’m convinced that evolution of libraries in the near future will be much more practically handled by Open Source and Community-supported technologies. It seems very true for the specialized libraries I am pleased to work with. And last, although greetings season has gone by a few weeks, I'd like to greet and express my best wishes to Koha users' community!
