Dear Community Support Team, I am very new and glad that such software exists and great people supporting it. I have following questions 1) Could this software be installed in a webspace and used or should this be in a standalone (local) computer ? 2) Could any barcode scanners be integrated with this software, to update whether it is loaned or returned or any specific way to scan the books ? 3) Is it possible to use a mobile camera to scan and update the software about the books? "Use Restrictions" option on Item Level

Dear All, I am using Koha 21.11 on Ubuntu 20.04 Koha version: 21.11.03.000 Linux KOHA 5.13.0-44-generic #49~20.04.1-Ubuntu According to the documentation, an item with non zero Use Restriction value is blocked from circulation. I would like to use this restriction to block circulation of DAMAGED Books. Therefore I created an authorized value of 2 with description "Damaged" But the restriction on circulation is only applicable for value 1 which is default and not for other values. Error 500 in Staff Catalog when clicking at record.

Hello all. 5 days ago I upgraded my Koha from version 19.* to 21.11.05. During the upgrade there is no error message that I notice. Then I upgraded my OS from Debian 9 stretch to 11 bullseye. Same no error message. When I searched in staff opac the result came out fine. For example i search for "management" and the list related to management shows up. The problem started when a certain record from the result gave me An Error Has Occurred! Error 500. When I hit the back button and click 'Edit Record' or 'Edit Item' it worked fine. I tried to look at the record detail when I clicked Edit Record or Edit Item but I found nothing unusual. I compare with no problem records. Not all records gave me this error but I noticed some of it. I already tried running /usr/share/koha/bin/maintenance/touch_all_biblios.pl -v but the result came out with no error at all. I do have full access to the server and database if anyone can help me and need extra information. FYI Opac worked just fine if i clicked on the record. Only at staff Opac. If anyone here can help please reply or maybe can lead me to where i can investigate to solve this problem. Thank you very much...

Hi Scott, I would say that you have bad data in at least one of your records. (The error is basically saying it can't find the 999 field in one of your records.) If you run "/usr/share/koha/bin/maintenance/touch_all_biblios.pl -v", it'll probably show you which record has the error (or it'll automagically fix it for you). That record will be creating errors in other parts of your Koha as well and not just when it tries to export that record for indexing. Any help would be appreciated here. After upgrading our installation to Koha 22.05.00.000, we are now receiving Zebra indexing errors and no records show in Opac searches. Right now I’d suggest a cup of tea, if you have something other than an electric kettle. But never mind that for now. Have you considered Ubuntu? It’s a derivative of Debian, but slightly easier. If your computer has enough RAM and disk space, you can even install the desktop/GUI version and then install Koha in a terminal window. (Don’t tell the hardcore Debian folks I said this.) What follows might horrify some people, but I’m a librarian who learned Koha/Ubuntu because I needed to—I didn’t start out as an IT expert. It sounds like you’re in the same situation I was back in 2013 when I started messing about with Koha. I didn’t have support (support vendors are lovely and charming people, but we didn’t have the money), so I had to learn things on my own. It’s a lot easier these days, trust me. I started with Vimal Kumar’s Live DVD, which lets you run Koha as a demo but also lets you install it on a computer. I learned by installing it, breaking it, installing it again, breaking it again, until I knew enough to go to my boss and say “here’s a fully-functional ILS with all our bibliographic data on it. All I need is a more powerful computer to run it on.” Vimal Kumar’s site is http://kohageek.blogspot.com/. The Koha-live DVD is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/kohalivedvd/files/?source=navbar. It’s not the current version, but you can upgrade it. There are other ways, of course. You can download Ubuntu, burn it to a DVD, and start from there. Cannot delete a news entry

Hello, I recently upgraded to 21.11.05 and I realize that the way to deal with News and HTML customization at Tools have changed. I found that News older entries cannot be deleted through the user interface. >From opac_main.pl, I found that the News entries are retrieved with the following code: /cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl?news_id=2 The question is, which is the table where I can find the column news_id? Patron Self registration system preferences

Koha 21.11.o5 I'm finding contradictory information regarding Patron self registration with email verification. What I would like to do - be able to delete self registrations that are not completed (not verified by email) using a cron job. What I don't want to do - delete patron accounts that are in the default self registered category, that have completed the email verification. The manual says: "Do not use a regular patron category for this, as any patron who has not completed the registration verification process will be deleted by the cleanup_database.pl script after the number of days indicated in PatronSelfRegistrationExpireTemporaryAccountsDelay, including regular patrons who have not registered online." Meanwhile the system preference says: "*Delete users still in the category indicated by PatronSelfRegistrationDefaultCategory"* So what does this really do? Show Calendar in OPAC and Staff

Hello, all! Is there a way to show the calendar in the OPAC and/or staff view? My library has been using the calendar for events and closed days, so it would be beneficial to our patrons. In a YouTube video ByWater [cap.] Solutions shows a webpage on showing a Google Calendar but not the Koha fine calendar. I understand that access to the Google Calendar has be enabled. But suppose one's library or its parent organization requires use of the internal Koha calendar not Apple Calendar or Google Calendar or another calendar. My library has been using the calendar for events and closed days, so it would be beneficial to our patrons. Currently running v. 20.05 but upgrading to v. 21.11 this summer.
