When it comes to storing barcodes, Koha is completely symbology
agnostic. :-) Your barcode scanner should be able to read the barcode
and pass it to your computer as a string followed by <return> sequence
(to mimic the action of manually typing in the numbers and pressing
<enter> key)

you can use jquery to do this. add the snippet to your intranetuserjs
syspref. See http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/JQuery_Library for
examples.
