There is a specific place for the bar code number . in the item record. In
MARC 21 it's 952 subfield p. You may set Koha to automatically generate
barcode numbers (if you want to print your own) or you may use numbers that
you already have (from pre- printed labels, or in our case we use our
accession numbers).
