[Koha] z3950 daemon won't launch

Hi all,

I'm having a bit of trouble getting the z3950 daemon to launch.  I fire
up the launch script, and then run ps to see if I've got a process, but
it seems to disappear rather quickly (i.e., before I can check for it). 
I'm logged in as root when I do this:

# ./z3950-daemon-launch.sh
z3950-daemon-launch.sh starting
# ps ax | grep z39
22218 pts/1    S      0:00 grep z39

Any help is greatly appreciated.
