Hi,

I work in an elementary school with about 600 students and have approx. 7000 books on my shelves. We use Alexandria. Alexandria works fine but our staff is asking for more. We spend about $500 a year on Alexandria tech support, which we seldom use. We only have our one primary library station, so I am the only one with access to library records. It would cost too much money for our school to afford purchasing extra workstation licenses for student/teacher access. We have one district computer technician for five schools. We can't rely on him for help.

SO

Is Koha worth looking into? I would love to use an open-source library system. I would love to have multiple access stations. I would love to have internet access....but....is this a reasonable option for a school with little tech support? What are your thoughts?

Does Koha compare favorably with Alexandria.

Is it a stable reliable system?

Do you need programming skills to keep it up and running?

Thank you,
D. B. N.
