Purchase request vanishes into thin air?
Koha version 3.08.05. I tested the purchase suggestion feature - as I understand, it should come straight to the Koha admin e-mail address. But it doesn't (I checked the spam folder too). We have purchase suggestions enabled. . . OPAC user login is off, Anon. suggestions is set to allow. is there another setting somewhere I need to check? The e-mailing of lists seems to work fine (with the From: being the Koha admin e-mail address) so the problem isn't in the admin address. It also makes me wonder if we are not getting error messages (we haven't gotten any yet, either we're very lucky or something is awry???) -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England. Hi Elaine As far as I know purchase suggestions do not email the library. http://manual.koha-community.org/3.8/en/purchasesuggest.html When one is made, it should show up the staff interface for the librarians to deal with, are the suggestions not showing there? Chris

I'm not sure this is the problem, we don't have any branches. On Wed, Nov 7, 2012 at 10:11 PM, Robin Sheat <robin@catalyst.net.nz> wrote:

Further testing reveals that suggestions made from the staff interface do work. It's the OPAC side that doesn't seem to work. After submitting a suggestion in the OPAC, a message pops up that says your suggestion has been submitted. But it hasn't. . . Hi, Elaine-- To see of all our pending purchase suggestions, after clicking "Suggestions pending approval," there is a pull-down menu on the left ("Organize by")--it's set to "Status" but we need to change it to "Library," then click "Go," and then we'll see anonymous purchase suggestions that we didn't see before. Maybe worth a try? (We're running 3.8, also allow anonymous suggestions, and have a one-library/no branches catalog.) Cheers, heather -- ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Heather Hernandez Technical Services Librarian Cultural Resources and Museum Management Division San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park heather_hernandez@nps.gov 415-561-7032 (voice) 415-556-3540 (fax) http://www.nps.gov/safr/historyculture/library-collections.htm "The sailor does not pray for wind, he learns to sail."--Gustaf Lindborg
I tried that too. Changing the Organized by: filter does not change the results. Do you have an Anonymous patron set up? I tried that too (patron 0). Maybe I've done something wrong there? Elaine On Wed, Nov 7, 2012 at 10:17 PM, Hernandez, Heather < heather_hernandez@nps.gov> wrote:

We do have an Anonymous patron set up--ours is borrower number 37, and its patron type is staff. Is your anonymous patron a staff patron--could that make a difference? Cheerio, heather
Just tried changing Anonymous from and adult patron to a member of staff, and then submitting a purchase suggestion Still didn't work. There is no password set for this imaginary person, correct? Elaine On Wed, Nov 7, 2012 at 10:30 PM, Hernandez, Heather < heather_hernandez@nps.gov> wrote:

We do have a username and password for our dear, imaginary Anonymous patron, but that "person" never logs in. Our purchase suggestions all show up as anonymous whether they're submitted by someone logged in, or submitted without anyone having logged in--they all show up as suggested by, "Patron, Anonymous." --heather

I don't believe you need a user name or password, but you *do* need a real user for your anonymous patron. Patron 0 is the database user and not an actual patron, so any data associated with that patron is likely to go spectacularly awry. Aha!, I have changed anonymous patron to a different number. I also changed the number in system prefs to match. We're making progress, it now says I have 2 suggestions. Thank you one and all!!
