Question about item types and overdue triggers
Hi: Lurker here. I've been researching the Overdue Notice /Status Triggers and I have a couple of questions. If anyone can share their experiences I would appreciate it. 1. Does anyone use the Advance Notice of Item Due and, if so, how do you make the system send the notice before the item is due? The field does not like negative numbers. 2. I noticed that the Demo database now has Item Types listed in the area that defines the "Defining default overdue actions" area. Is anyone using the notice triggers based on item type instead of patron type? Do you have to provide default information for both patron and item types in order to trigger notices? 3. Does the system automatically add every Patron and Item type to "Defining default overdue actions" page? Thanks for any information you can share. Heidi J. #1 - The advance notice is sent through the messaging that is attached to the patron - not the statuses and triggers. https://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/Pa... #3 - Yes, it should Hope that helps with those two :) --- Nicole C. Nicole, could you clarify a bit more? Is there no way to system-wide set up a trigger for advance notices? I think that you're saying it has to be configured in each patron record. Looking at the messaging option in the patron record, it seems to be configurable for email, SMS, and RSS. What I'd like to do is set up a standard email for advance notices to all patrons managed through the Notices and Overdue notice/status triggers tools. Thanks. It has to be done per patron - you can't do it globally at this time :( Also, patrons have the right to change their own enhanced messaging. That said, we will probably be working on a new way to handle this soon ... I just don't have the details as of yet. --- Nicole C. Hello, I've got three questions about this: 1- Is it possible to set these preferences while the patron records are loaded? 2- What table contains these values, borrower_message_preferences? Is it possible to change them there? 3 - How come I've got nothing when I click on Messaging in a patron record (no Item Checkout, Upcoming Events, etc.)? Is there something to activate elsewhere? Thanks Lino Nicole Engard a écrit :

#1 & 2 I'll leave up to a developer who knows the table structure and migration process. #3 - if you read the messaging section on this page of the manual: https://sites.google.com/a/liblime.com/koha-manual/Home/Table-of-Contents/Pa... you will see a series of TIPs and IMPORTANT notes telling you how to enable this functionality. --- Nicole C.
