my quick/short answer is... get a multi-core cpu, 2 gigs ram, 2 hard disks (RAIDed or not, your choice) and you will probably be just fine :) Mason

It appears some funding has been made available to allow the purchase of a new library server. I just wanted to ask the experts for your advice on what specs to look out for and what to avoid please? Is there a particular machine we should be purchasing? I need to provide this to our IT department asap.
