Not me exclusively -- I wish! Even in a large consortia, there may only be one or two libraries that use authorities. And even then, they might not always maintain them. What's heartening is that OCLC isn't the only place to get authority standards from: https://biblios.net/can-i-access-authority-files-‡bibliosnet (Not that anyone here would be interested. Heh.) Add to wish list: "Release authority work earlier than soon." Done. ;-) Thanks, -- Ben On Sat, Sep 19, 2009 at 8:13 PM, Joann Ransom <jransom@library.org.nz> wrote:
Hi Ben,
It sounds like you might be sponsoring it. It would be much appreciated and probably beneficial too if it could be released to the community early :)
Cheers Jo.

Not to get too deeply into this, but yes, I believe that authorities will be getting much better soon.
Our library really depends on authority work, and I don't want to slow down our catalogers in order to maintain collection maintenance.

("Maintain maintenance." Nice, Ide.)

Yes, I would love for authorities to work. The scientists in state agencies just love to change how they sign their documents. Nicknames, initials, no initials, full name, etc.
