Thanks all for the support and great suggestions. Chris/Nicole - do you have preferred IRC clients I can suggest to the students? I have no experience with IRC at all. Dropping into a meeting or chat room is a great idea, thank you! Lori, the comparison assignment is limited to the Circulation module only. If that sounds useful I'd be happy to summarize the findings and send to you, assuming it is okay with the students. Shirley,
I can't tell you how excited this makes me! As a library student we never saw a real library system!! That's just insane in my opinion and I love that you're showing at least 2 to your students. You may also want to have your students pop into an IRC meeting and lurk to see how we share information and make decisions as a community. The schedule of these events is on the wiki: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=en:events:meetings:irc_meetings:start At each meeting we schedule the next one, so you'll only see 2 scheduled meetings right now.
I'd second Nicole's suggestion and also suggest that the students just pop onto irc.katipo.co.nz:6667 #koha (the koha irc channel) anytime to have a chat. There are usually a mix of users and developers on pretty much continuously.
