As a librarian, I like being able to check the MARC coding of a record (mine or that in other libraries). But, also as a librarian, I would like to make this go away so that fields I code as "hidden" are completely hidden, even from the prying eyes of other librarians. (So, for example, I could put rare book acquisition information in the MARC record, but others couldn't see that donor or purchase information.) Either way, I don't believe that our patrons use that information at all. Too improve usability, it would be good if I could cut and paste from that view. The expanded MARC view doesn't supply the tags necessary to, um, 'borrow' other people's cataloging work. Kurt Mount Vernon

If you have your OPAC XSLT option turned on, a standard installation of Koha 3.x will have two options for viewing a title's MARC record from the detail page: "MARC View" and "Expanded MARC View." See this example on ByWater's demo:
http://catalog.bywatersolutions.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac- detail.pl?biblionumber=363
If you click the "MARC View" link it pops up a modal window with a plain text view of the MARC record.
Does your library use this view? From a public library perspective this view doesn't seem useful. I'm interested in finding out whether others find it useful and if there are ways we can improve the usability of the option for all.
Thanks,
Owen
